Description
Ancarani's white “Andata e Ritorno” is an inviting and complex orange wine, elegant, nimble and smooth on the palate. A circular journey between land and bottle, it is a metaphor for the natural path of wine, which is born from the earth, passes through the cellar and returns to its most authentic essence. The blend brings together Albana, Famoso, Trebbiano Romagnolo and Grechetto Gentile, varieties that find a harmonious synthesis thanks to their respective qualities: the structure and substance of Albana, the aromatic profile of Famoso and the freshness contributed by Trebbiano and Grechetto Gentile. The grapes come from the hills of Oriolo dei Fichi, all from vineyards between 80 and 150 metres above sea level, on varied soils where sand, silt, clay and the typical Romagna “marzana” help to shape the wine's character. Vineyard management favours manual work and a strict selection of grapes at harvest, which takes place between late August and the first weeks of September. In the cellar each variety is vinified separately: the grapes are destemmed and then left to rest for a long time in the press before pressing. The musts are then combined during fermentation, which is always spontaneous, thanks to indigenous yeasts. After a few months' maturation on the lees, the wine is aged in concrete tanks. “Andata e Ritorno” completes its journey with a short rest in the bottle before release. In the glass it shows an intense amber colour with golden and coppery highlights reminiscent of onion skin. The nose offers hints of white flowers such as magnolia and orange blossom, accompanied by light citrus notes, nuances of white tea and elegant hints of wild medicinal herbs. The palate is dry, savoury and mineral, supported by a lively tannic component that adds depth and carries the finish with energy and persistence. An original and distinctive wine.
