Description
Ancarani is a family-run winery located in Santa Lucia di Faenza, in the heart of Romagna, an area where wine culture is intertwined with culinary tradition and hospitality. Its roots go back to 1934, when Pietro Ancarani, known as Delmo, bought the first plots of land, giving rise to a project that has been handed down from generation to generation. Today the estate is run by Claudio Ancarani, a winegrower who approaches his work with an authentic, artisanal style. Every choice, from vineyard management to winemaking, stems from the desire to showcase the territory through honest, recognisable and highly drinkable wines, without compromising on quality. The vineyards lie on the hills around Faenza, near the Rocca di Oriolo, an area particularly well suited to viticulture. Here mainly native Romagna varieties are grown, including Sangiovese, Burson, Centesimino, Famoso and Albana, using farming practices that respect the natural balance of the vine and the environment. Yields are kept low and bunch selection ensures healthy, concentrated grapes full of character. Great attention is also paid to sustainability: biodiversity is preserved through an approach that respects the ecosystem and a very limited use of sulphites. In the cellar intervention is kept to a minimum so that each wine can naturally express its own identity. Macerations, often extended, allow a full extraction of the grape's aromatic and structural components, producing deep, territorial and balanced wines. Ancarani's philosophy is based on a simple principle: making wines that tell the story of Romagna authentically, combining tradition, research and respect for the raw material.
