Description
Ancarani's white “Per la Gioia” is made exclusively from Albana: a wine with a dynamic and engaging character, fresh and full of personality, with a sip that naturally invites sharing. Ancarani is a small family estate run by Claudio Ancarani, a winegrower who has made respect for the territory and the promotion of native varieties the heart of his work. The vineyards and cellar lie among the hills of Oriolo dei Fichi, near Faenza, and are tended with care and an approach that favours manual work for the most delicate operations, such as the harvest, carried out between late August and early September with a strict selection of the best bunches. In the cellar, winemaking begins with destemming; the grapes are then soft-pressed with a short rest in the press to allow a gentle extraction of aromas, before spontaneous fermentation. The wine then rests for a few months on its own lees in concrete tanks before bottling. Golden yellow in the glass, on the nose it offers delicate aromas of white and yellow flowers, including hawthorn and broom, accompanied by light citrus notes and elegant hints of wild medicinal herbs. The palate is dry, decisive and mineral, supported by a pleasant savouriness that carries through to a long, persistent finish, made all the more interesting by the light tannic texture typical of Albana. “Per la Gioia” keeps the promise contained in its name: a satisfying, spontaneous and engaging wine that combines lightness and character without giving up a clear territorial identity.
