Description
Filodivino's white “Dino” is a pure Verdicchio that represents the deepest and most distinctive soul of the estate. Its name pays tribute to the person who made the whole project possible: the father of Alberto Gandolfi, the owner. A complex, deep and balanced wine, it holds strong symbolic as well as oenological value, with exceptional ageing potential in the bottle. It comes from the estate's oldest vineyards, once abandoned and later restored, giving new value to a precious heritage. Over sixty years old, the vines stand next to the winery in San Marcello, at around 230 metres above sea level, on soils of calcareous clay and sand, farmed according to certified organic viticulture principles. Care and attention to quality mean that the harvest is carried out entirely by hand in small crates, with careful selection of the bunches. Sometimes several passes through the same rows are needed to pick everything at the right degree of ripeness. In the cellar, the grapes are chilled overnight in a cold room before destemming and pressing. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks and, in some vintages, the must may undergo a brief maceration on the skins. Ageing in steel lasts at least 24 months and, once bottled, the wine can rest for years in the bottle before release. In the glass it shows an intense, deep yellow colour, a prelude to a complex and enveloping aromatic profile in which notes of honey and wax emerge. On the palate it is rich and structured, yet silky and balanced, supported by vibrant acidity that carries its development and by a long, elegant and markedly mineral finish. “Dino” is a Verdicchio of great personality, authentically expressing the value of time, memory and terroir.
