Description
Filodivino's red “Coro” is a flagship label that celebrates the meeting between the Marche territory and three international grape varieties: Syrah, Cabernet Franc and Merlot. It is an original, harmonious wine in which the different varieties intertwine as in a true choir (“coro”), enhancing one another. Matured mainly in wood, it offers a sip of structure, depth and elegance, as well as long ageing potential if properly stored. The grapes come from a few east-facing rows of fairly young vines, around 10 years old, located just a few steps from the winery. These are hillside altitudes of between 220 and 240 metres above sea level, with soils typical of the area, rich in calcareous clay and sand. These varieties are generally not harvested at the same time: picking begins around mid-September and continues until early October, and the bunches are all selected by hand, in small crates, to prevent the berries from breaking prematurely. In the cellar each variety is vinified separately, with destemming and fermentation with maceration on the skins in stainless steel tanks. Ageing lasts around 18 months in French oak tonneaux and barriques with different toast levels. After this period “Coro” is blended and bottled, then rests for a further six months in the bottle. In the glass it shows an intense red colour; the nose is complex, with the varietal notes merging into a rich, deep bouquet. On the palate it is full and enveloping, with a substantial structure supported by elegant, well-integrated tannins, while a surprising freshness balances its power, making the sip dynamic and harmonious. “Coro” is thus a wine that tells of the meeting of different worlds in balance, able to evolve over time and offer great complexity.
