Description

The MMXXII red wine from St. Quirinus is a prestigious and outstanding label, and an ad hoc line called Unicum has been created to underline this. It is an original and unusual blend of traditional Merlot and innovative Piwi varieties, which are resistant to fungal diseases. The result is a wine that is both full-bodied and intense, well structured, with pleasant aromas of wild berries and flowers, enhanced by the tertiary notes produced by long ageing in small oak barrels. The Merlot and Piwi vines grow in the 'Unterstoan' and 'Putznai' areas of the municipality of Tramin, at an altitude of 250 metres above sea level, on limestone gravel from the Dolomites. The eastern exposure and mild temperatures create an ideal environment for high quality grapes. The grapes are destemmed after harvesting and fermentation takes place in steel vats at a controlled temperature of 30°C, with the must macerating on the skins. The wine is aged in barriques for about 18 months. In the glass it has an intense garnet red colour. In the mouth, it is full-bodied, with a firm tannin structure and a pleasant acidity that provides freshness and lingers in the mouth. On the nose, the notes of blackcurrants, blackberries and blueberries are intense, enriched by floral nuances of violets. with floral nuances of violets and delicate oak notes. Perfect with red meats, game and seasoned cheeses, MMXXII is a wine that reflects the distinctive character of Alto Adige and the Sinn family's commitment to combining tradition and innovation.
