Description

Brunello di Montalcino is a red wine appreciated and known all over the world, an icon of Italian wine. The name 'Brunello' comes from the dark colour of the grapes of a particular variety of Sangiovese, which was cultivated and vinified by Ferruccio Santi of Montalcino in the second half of the 19th century. The Terre Nere label represents the highest expression of the Sangiovese grape, fresh, elegant and refined, with well-integrated tannins and a good structure, with pronounced notes of red fruit that entice the palate. The winery's vineyards are located in Castelnuovo dell'Abate, near Montalcino in the Tuscan countryside. The vines, which are about 20 years old, are planted on marl soils, facing south-east, kissed by the sun and surrounded by unspoilt woods, with an ideal microclimate for growing vines. The Terre Nere winery's commitment to quality is reflected in the meticulous care taken at every stage, from the vineyard to the bottle. The grapes are harvested by hand, with meticulous selection of the bunches, which are collected in 15 kg baskets to ensure that only the best grapes reach the cellar. The must obtained is fermented spontaneously with maceration on the skins for up to 30 days at a controlled temperature of around 28-30°C in steel vats. Ageing takes place in large 50hl and 30hl Slavonian oak barrels for a good 36 months. The colour is ruby red, tending towards garnet, and the nose reveals notes of ripe red fruit, interwoven with balsamic, spicy and menthol notes, enriched by a hint of tobacco. In the mouth, the wine is elegant and refined, with a pleasant tannic texture, good structure and persistence. This is a wine destined to evolve with time, with a pronounced acidity, a work of art that celebrates the richness of the Montalcino terroir.
