Description

This wine embodies the decisive and unmistakable mark that the Blasi family wishes to leave on their territory, a tangible sign of their commitment to making a significant and positive contribution. Impronta is made from the Sagrantino grape, which anyone familiar with this indigenous Umbrian grape variety will immediately recognise in the glass. Sagrantino is anything but graceful, it has hard and powerful tannins, it is very alcoholic and really full of harshness. For this reason, it has been tamed with a typical Bordeaux blend of Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon to create a more modern, elegant and silky wine. It is then aged in large French oak barrels for at least two years. The vineyard is situated on sandy soil in a hilly area at an altitude of between 300 and 450 metres above sea level. The vines are trained using the spurred cordon system, a practice that aims to precisely control the growth of the vines in order to obtain high quality grapes. After harvesting, the grapes are carefully crushed, destemmed and the free-run juice is transferred to steel vats where alcoholic fermentation takes place in contact with the skins. This process takes place at a temperature of between 25 and 28°C for about 15-20 days. Malolactic fermentation then takes place, again in steel tanks, to give the wine a rounder and softer flavour. The wine is then aged in large French oak barrels for 24 months. After this phase, the wine is further enriched during bottle ageing, which lasts at least 18 months. On the nose, the wine has intense aromas of ripe red fruits, blackcurrants and blackberries, followed by dark floral and undergrowth notes, then evolving into spicy and balsamic notes. This is a red wine with elegant and balanced tannins, a full body and the ability to age with refinement. Thanks to its impeccable structure, this wine goes well with hearty main courses, creating a perfect marriage between oenological complexity and gastronomic pleasure.
