Description

Brunello di Montalcino Riserva "Capriolo" is the Terre Nere winery's flagship red wine, an elegant, refined and fresh expression of the territory and the Sangiovese Grosso vine from which it is produced. It takes its name from the parcel where the grapes come from, which are hand-picked with care and respect during the harvest. A versatile label, ready to drink immediately, but also capable of revealing its true character with age. It invites you to taste its fruity aromas, typical of the vine, in harmony with the balsamic and spicy notes resulting from the long ageing process. The "Vigna del Capriolo" vineyard is located about 10 km from Montalcino, at an altitude of 280 metres above sea level. The soil is mainly dark marl with some sandstone and quartzite. The vines have an average age of 20 years and benefit from the protection of the surrounding mountains and the moderation of the sea breezes, a combination of climatic factors that is perfect for the well-being of the vines. During the harvest, the selected grapes are placed in small baskets to avoid crushing and to preserve the integrity of the fruit; in the cellar, the fermentation process takes place spontaneously with indigenous yeasts and the must macerates with the skins for a long time, even 30/40 days, at controlled temperatures of 28-30° C in steel vats. The wine is then aged for 48 months in two 10hl Slavonian oak barrels. This period allows the wine to develop its personality and to acquire elegance and depth. Bottle-ageing lasts at least 6 months, completing the long process and ensuring that the wine is ready to reveal its full expression. Ruby red tending towards garnet, the nose opens with fresh balsamic notes, followed by dark red fruits and light spicy nuances. On the palate, its elegance is supported by a well-defined structure, lively acidity and an important tannic texture, suggesting a great capacity for ageing.
