Nero Musqué is a rare and fascinating gem among our dessert wines, an authentic ampelographic masterpiece that bridges the Euganean Hills and the warm lands of Sicily. Our thirst for experimentation led us to Sicily in search of the ideal place to grow Moscato Nero, from which this extraordinary wine is born. It is a concentrate of aromas and flavours that recall the aromatic plants of the coastal scrub. Nero Musqué is more than just a sweet wine: it is the story of a journey that begins in the Euganean Hills and ends in the warm and welcoming lands of Sicily. In 2005, in collaboration with the Regional Institute of Viticulture and Oenology of Sicily, we embarked on an experimental journey to study the different varieties of Muscat. This experience also allowed us to find a new refuge for the precious Moscato Nero vines that we wished to preserve.
The Moscato Nero vines are cultivated using the Guyot pruning method on tuffaceous sand at an altitude of 400-500 metres above sea level, with a very low yield of between 10 and 30 quintals per hectare, typical of this type of vine. The grapes are harvested by hand at the end of the season, carefully pressed and left to macerate on the skins for about 10 days. Fermentation is spontaneous, as with all our products. Bottling takes place after two years of ageing in large barrels and cement.
Nero Musqué is a sweet and rare red wine, characterised by intense aromatic and balsamic notes of myrtle and Mediterranean bush, which blend harmoniously with the scents of red fruits in spirit, apricot in syrup and quince. On the palate, it offers contrasting sensations underlined by an excellent balance of sugars, silky tannins, pronounced savouriness, freshness and dynamism. Its persistence invites you to continue tasting.
The sweet notes of Nero Musqué make it the ideal companion for dried fruit crisps, dark chocolate and some blue cheeses. It is also a perfect wine for meditation and a pleasure to share with family and friends.
