Description
The "Mix Podere Orto" three-bottle case contains Bianco, Amai and Nero wines, which encapsulate the story of a small family business in the heart of Upper Lazio, where Giuliano and Simona cultivate their vineyards using biodynamic and organic practices, avoiding any synthetic products and respecting nature at every stage of production.
Bianco is a wine made from Procanico grapes with the addition of small percentages of other native white varieties. Fresh and versatile, it releases aromas of yellow fruit, flint, white flowers and broom. On the palate it is savoury, balanced and lively, perfect with land and sea appetisers, white meats and elaborate fish dishes.
Amai, a bright rosé dedicated to their daughter Maia, is a blend of native white and red grapes, mainly Procanico and Sangiovese. It has aromas of small berries and violet and rose flowers. It is fresh and persistent on the palate, with a lively finish that invites you to take another sip.
Nero, the winery's most prestigious label, is made from 100% Grechetto rosso grapes. A vintage wine with great structure, it reveals intense aromas of red fruit and hints of spice. It is full-bodied, enveloping and persistent on the palate, ideal for red meat, game and mature cheeses.

"Bianco" Podere Orto
The white wine produced by Giuliano and Simona of Podere Orto is made from the Procanico grape variety, with a small percentage of other white grape varieties native to the Upper Lazio region. On the palate it has a pronounced savoury flavour and a full, enveloping structure, well balanced by freshness and lively acidity. The finish is long and slightly spicy.
Versatile, it is the ideal companion for seafood and shellfish hors d'oeuvres, white meats and elaborate fish dishes, but it can also enhance more creative and daring preparations.
It is a versatile, uncomplicated wine, with great freshness and inviting aromas of yellow-fleshed fruit, typical of the aromatic varieties of the area.
This small company has a total of 4 hectares of vineyards, all planted around Trevinano, in the province of Viterbo, an area on the border of Tuscany and Umbria.
It is a strictly family-run business, and the vines are cultivated using biodynamic and organic methods, avoiding the use of any synthetic chemical products and minimising mechanisation wherever possible, with the aim of producing a wine that respects the vintage.
Situated between 570 and 620 metres above sea level, the vineyards used to produce the Bianco wine are between 10 and 55 years old and are planted on sedimentary soils rich in skeletons (stones), with a predominantly clayey-sandy texture. The exposure, partly to the north and partly to the west, together with good management and a climate characterised by a wide range of temperatures between day and night, help to preserve good acidity and aromatic complexity in the grapes.
Harvesting, which is carried out strictly by hand, generally takes place in the first week of October.
is deliberately limited to 60 quintals per hectare in order to guarantee the highest quality.
After direct pressing of the whole grapes, the must ferments spontaneously in steel vats, thanks to indigenous yeasts. The wine matures for 12 months in stainless steel vats, followed by a similar period in the bottle.
In the glass, the Bianco di Podere Orto has a deep straw-yellow colour, with a bouquet rich in delicate aromas of flint, white flowers and broom, interwoven with nuances of citrus and yellow-fleshed fruit.

"Amai" Podere Orto
Podere Orto's Rosato 'Amai' is a special tribute to Giuliano and Simona's daughter Maia, whose name is reflected in the anagram 'Amai'. This rosé is a blend of white and red grapes, all native to the area, the majority of which is Procanico, with the remainder being Sangiovese.
The vineyards are located in the municipality of Trevinano, in Alto Lazio, a strip of land on the border between Tuscany and Umbria, surrounded by woods, springs, streams, flora and fauna, rich in biodiversity. We are located in hilly areas, on sedimentary soils rich in skeleton, clay and sand. The exposure of the vines varies between north and west for the white varieties and west for the red varieties, guaranteeing an optimal balance between freshness and ripeness. The strictly manual harvest takes place around the first week of October.
The vinification process reflects the variety of grapes used. The red grapes are partially destemmed and the must ferments spontaneously in small vats, with daily manual punching down, while the white varieties are pressed directly, without crushing or destemming, and fermented in steel tanks. After the malolactic fermentation, which is usually completed in the spring after the harvest, when the temperature returns to a level favourable to the action of the lactic bacteria, the different batches are blended. The wine matures for 12 months, partly in fibreglass tanks and partly in steel vats, before being bottled for a further 12 months.
In the glass, Amai has a bright and lively rosé colour. The nose opens with intense aromas of small red berries, accompanied by elegant floral notes of violets and roses, reminiscent of the freshness of white grapes. On the palate, it is lively, fruity and lightly structured, with a lingering finish that invites you to take another sip.
Perfect as an aperitif, served chilled, it goes well with lightly prepared dishes, finger food or light appetisers.

Grechetto rosso "Nero" Podere Orto
The red wine 'Nero' of Podere Orto is the most prestigious label of the winery and represents the wine that can be forgotten in the cellar for years only to be rediscovered on important festive occasions to be shared with those you love. It is made from pure red Grechetto grapes, a variety native to Lazio that can give wines structure and, together with good acidity, guarantees a long life, provided the wine is properly stored.
A series of characteristics that are all contained in the 'Nero' bottles, with the addition of scents of ripe red berries. The grapes come from a high hillside vineyard located between 620 and 650 metres above sea level, with vines that are between 50 and 25 years old. Cultivation takes place in an isolated context, where vine cultivation is not predominant and intensive, where woods, meadows and rivers guarantee biodiversity. Giuliano and Simona continue their philosophy of organic production, supported by biodynamic practices, with no synthetic chemical inputs in the vineyard or in the cellar, reducing the use of sulphites to a minimum. The result is a vintage wine that is different every year, with distinctive characteristics.
Harvesting, strictly by hand, takes place in the third week of October when the grapes have reached perfect phenolic ripeness. The grapes are partially destemmed and fermented in small 10 hectolitre vats, with daily manual punching down. The 'Nero' matures for 24 months in fibreglass vats and for two years in the bottle.
In the glass, it has an intense ruby red colour and intense, fragrant aromas of red berry fruits, accompanied by an intriguing undertone of spice. The palate is full-bodied, with a well-defined, structured tannic texture. The finish is long with excellent persistence and is enveloping.
Perfect with red meats, game and structured dishes, Nero also goes well with mature cheeses and dried fruit, making it the ideal protagonist of a convivial dinner or a moment of gastronomic meditation.
