Description
The 'Brullieri' three-bottle case from the Osvaldo Soddu winery encapsulates the authentic soul of Mamoiada, a small village in the inland areas of Sardinia, where old vines, high altitudes and sensitive viticulture give life to a Cannonau with an unmistakable spirit. Produced exclusively from Cannonau grapes grown on granite decomposition soils, Brullieri comes from vineyards trained as alberello in the sunny Ghirada Bruncu Boeli plot, at an altitude of 630 metres. Here, the significant temperature variations between day and night give the wine its extraordinary complexity. The vinification respects tradition: soft pressing, spontaneous fermentation with indigenous yeasts and 14 days' maceration on the skins. This is followed by at least 13 months' ageing in medium-toasted French oak tonneaux and a further 6 months' refinement in the bottle. The wine is unfiltered, preserving all its authenticity and the natural richness of the fruit. In the glass, Brullieri Riserva expresses an intense bouquet of plums, sour cherries, myrtle and carob, with notes of tomato, mint and pepper. On the palate it is full-bodied, mineral and velvety, with a long and persistent finish that offers hints of iodine, citrus and almonds. A Cannonau of great elegance, perfect with roast meats, game and mature cheeses.
