In 2007, Giuliano and Simona embarked on an extraordinary journey, driven by the desire to make a dream come true: to combine their passion for nature with an authentic life project rooted in the land. They came across a special place, an old rural building surrounded by uncultivated land in an enchanting corner of northern Lazio, where the borders of Umbria and Tuscany cross. It is a land of rare beauty, full of silence and promise, which immediately captured their hearts.
In March 2009 they planted their first vineyard, marking the beginning of a new adventure. That same year, in December, their daughter Maia arrived, born under the winter solstice sky. In 2011, they began the renovation of the farm, personally taking care of every aspect, from managing the farm to supervising the work. With patience and dedication, they are bringing the old building back to life, transforming it into a cosy place where wine and conviviality find their ideal dimension.
Podere Orto is not just a business, it is a way of life. Giuliano and Simona have opted for biodiversity, cultivating their vineyards according to biodynamic principles, without chemicals, with manual labour and great respect for the surrounding ecosystem. Their vineyards, which cover about four hectares on the edge of the Monte Rufeno Nature Reserve, are an example of harmony between man and nature. The reserve, with its unspoilt woods and rare species, keeps the secret of an environment that inspires their every choice.
Through a careful selection of grapes, carefully harvested and fermented with indigenous yeasts, their wines express the true essence of the land.
