Description
The three-bottle set "I Classici Valpolicella" from the Nepos Villae winery is a quintessential expression of classic Valpolicella.
The "Campo di Villa" Amarone is produced from grapes dried until mid-January and aged for 48 months in oak barrels, and comes from the cru of the same name in the Negrar Valley. It is deep garnet red in colour and reveals notes of red and black fruits, cocoa, tobacco and chestnut honey. It is fresh and savoury on the palate, with rounded tannins and hints of cinnamon and cloves, and finishes with a lingering almond-like aftertaste. It is ideal with braised meats, game, mature cheeses and dark chocolate.
The Valpolicella Ripasso "Strada Campiona", made from Corvina, Rondinella and Molinara grapes, is re-fermented on Amarone pomace and aged for 18 months in casks. An intense ruby red in colour, it offers aromas of ripe cherry and wild berries, with spicy notes of black pepper and nutmeg. It is round, fresh and persistent on the palate, and is perfect with cured meats, cheeses and savoury dishes.
The Recioto della Valpolicella "La Tesa" is aged in casks and in the bottle. It is an intense purple-red colour and offers aromas of cherries preserved in alcohol and wild berries. Sweet, full-bodied and velvety with spicy notes, it is ideal with desserts and chocolate.

Amarone della Valpolicella Classico "Campo di villa" Nepos Villae
Description
"The Campo di Villa red wine from Nepos Villae takes its name from the Cru of the same name, the master vineyard from which the winery's entire journey began and continues. Situated among the marls of the ancient Villa district, this ancient vineyard dominates the picturesque Negrar Valley and is an authentic treasure trove of values, affection and history. Campo di Villa symbolises the fusion of the historic ideals of the Risorgimento of its founder, Giovan Battista Quintarelli, and the young and innovative passion for wine of his great-grandson, Francesco. A red wine of harmonious and elegant fruit, with a complex character that balances the fruity and balsamic sides, with a fresh palate despite its age. The grapes, grown according to the ancient Veronese system of double pergolas, are harvested by hand in the second half of September, carefully placed in crates and left to dry until mid-January. Once they have reached the right sugar concentration, they are selected and gently pressed. Vinification takes place in temperature-controlled steel vats with skin contact for about 40 days, with periodic manual pumping over to stir the marc into the must. After fermentation, the wine is aged for 48 months in large French Allier and Troncais oak barrels. Once bottled, Campo di Villa continues to refine in the bottle for at least 4-6 months before release. The colour is an intense garnet red with pronounced reflections, expressing all the aromatic complexity and elegance inherited from the limestone and marl soil. The nose is decisive and vertical, with notes of crunchy red fruits blending harmoniously with hints of black berries and cocoa. Sweet balsamic notes recall soft tobacco and chestnut honey. Fresh and savoury on the palate, the tannins are round and enveloping at the outset, beautifully blended with spices, cloves and cinnamon. The finish is decidedly almond with a long persistence. Amarone Campo di Villa is an excellent accompaniment to spicy and fatty cured meats, long cooked meats such as braised beef and game. Here is a wine that finds its best companion in long matured cheeses. To end the meal in a sublime way, try it with a touch of dark chocolate".Read More

Recioto della Valpolicella "La tesa" Nepos Villae
Description

Valpolicella Ripasso Classico Superiore "Strada campiona" Nepos Villae
Description
"Nepos Villae's Valpolicella Ripasso 'Strada Campiona' is a special tribute to the ancient Strada Campiona, the Roman road that for centuries crossed the Negrar and Valpantena valleys, linking and interweaving unique territories. Traced by the men of the past, this furrow has been preserved over time as a symbol of our journey through the centuries and into the future, among vines, wine and the authentic essence of Valpolicella. This Valpolicella Ripasso is made from a blend of Corvina, Rondinella and Molinara, indigenous varieties permitted by law, grown in the Negrar Valley, in the heart of classic Valpolicella, on the white marly soil typical of the valley. The rocks are rugged, with fossiliferous concretions of limestone and marine sandstone. The grapes are carefully hand-picked, placed in special containers and immediately taken to the cellar, where part of the grapes are left to dry for 30-40 days and the rest are immediately crushed. Vinification takes place in temperature-controlled steel vats, with light cryomaceration and manual pressing. After vinification in red, the wine is ripasso on the marc of the following year's Amarone, i.e. the skins remain in contact with the wine for about 30 days. After the ripasso, the wine is aged in large French oak barrels of Allier and Troncais for about 18 months. The wine is then further refined in the bottle for 3-5 months before being released. The intense ruby red colour with violet reflections promises a rich aroma of red fruits, especially ripe cherries and berries. The wilting sensations resulting from the ripasso technique combine with a fuller and firmer tannin, round and pleasant on the palate. The spiciness comes through with a distinct note of black pepper and a hint of warm nutmeg. The lingering finish offers a fresh sensation of cherries and dried almonds, enriched by an intriguing hint of mint.Valpolicella Ripasso Classico Superiore Strada Campiona is an exceptionally versatile wine, capable of adapting elegantly to many culinary preparations. It is the perfect wine to whet the palate of young connoisseurs and is ideal for lingering over a meal, accompanying hors d'oeuvres and small savoury dishes such as cured meats and medium-flavoured cheeses. It is excellent with salami in all its delicious Italian varieties. "Read More
