Description
The red 'R' is made with grapes of the native Lagrein variety, a prestigious label that is not by chance part of the selection that the St. Quirinus winery offers to lovers of good wine.
A deep and structured wine, it expresses in the mouth all the richness of the varietal as in the nose, with pleasant fruity notes, woody contrasts enriched by subtle earthy scents.
The grapes come from Trentino pergola vineyards, up to 50 years old, situated at an altitude of 250 metres, in an area with a warmer microclimate and a splendid view of Lake Caldaro, on soils composed mainly of limestone and gravel, with some porphyry.
The grapes, harvested by hand, are destemmed before fermentation and the must is left to macerate on the skins in wooden barrels at a temperature of around 30°C. The wine is then aged in tonneaux for about 24 months, during which time malolactic fermentation takes place.
Intense garnet red, enriched with seductive violet reflexes, the "R" reveals a broad and refined bouquet with notes of blackberries and ripe wild berries, enhanced by undergrowth and hints of cocoa and oak, evidence of ageing. In the mouth, the entry is velvety, followed by a full body with well presented and integrated tannins, good verticality that gives balance and length to the finish.
Red 'R' is an ideal wine to accompany important meat dishes such as roasts and game, but it is also excellent with mature cheeses, offering an intense and satisfying taste experience. A red wine of great character, capable of enhancing any social occasion.
