Description
The yellow Muscat from the St. Quirinus winery also bears the name 'Opera 24' on its label and is made from the grape variety of the same name. This aromatic white wine is easy to drink, smooth and supple, with aromas of sweet ripe fruit.
The Benedictine monks cultivated grapes and made wine in this area, and the winery takes its name from Saint Quirino, the patron saint of the monastery.
History shows that this area is particularly suitable for growing vines, and the Sinn family continues this tradition by working in a way that respects the environment and biodiversity, using organic and biodynamic techniques and an energy self-sufficient winery. The Opera 24 Moscato vines are planted on the sunny slopes overlooking Lake Caldaro, at an altitude of between 260 and 360 metres, on limestone and gravel soils with valuable granite and quartz inclusions. These soils, together with the sunny exposure, allow the grapes to ripen well and be more acidic.
The Moscato Giallo grapes are carefully harvested by hand in order to preserve their firmness and healthiness. In the cellar, the grapes are destemmed and crushed; 70% of the must obtained ferments in steel tanks, while the remaining 30% ferments in amphoras. Ageing takes place in steel and amphora tanks respectively.
Opera 24 has a bright straw-yellow colour and on the nose it is rich in fruity aromas of ripe peach and melon, enhanced by delicate hints of nutmeg, and finishes with a hint of exotic fruit that adds to its complexity. In the mouth it is smooth and harmonious, with a delicate acidity, the modest structure balances the sip, the finish is pleasantly fresh and moderately persistent.
Perfect as an aperitif, 'Opera 24' pairs well with light starters, fish dishes and the spicy and delicate nuances of Asian cuisine.
