Description

In the spring of 2017, a severe frost hit the vineyards hard, wiping out all four cru cultivated with Refosco dal Peduncolo Rosso and the entire Monuments cru, dedicated to Chardonnay. After weeks of despair, Alberto and Renata decided to look for a vineyard in an area not affected by the frost and found a Tocai Friulano vineyard in the Oleis hills, in the eastern hills of Friuli, planted on soils of silty clay on the surface and dolomitic limestone at depth. This is how Viarsa was born, an intense and complex wine, in keeping with the high quality of the Murva winery, capable of releasing fruity notes of pear and apricot, accompanied by a light almond note typical of Friulano. On the palate, it is dynamic, warm and soft to the touch, with a pleasant savouriness that lingers on the finish. The excellent balance between freshness and saltiness and the perfect harmony between the nose and the palate characterise this fascinating creation. After observing all the vegetative and productive phases in the vineyard, Renata and Alberto decided to make a fresh wine, renouncing the period of refinement in the bottle and maintaining all the vinification processes, such as cold maceration, followed by fermentation at temperatures around 15°C and a period of rest on fine lees in steel tanks for almost a year.
