Description
The 'Verha' three-bottle case from the Elena Fucci winery contains a red, a rosé and a white from the Verha project, dated 2022, to protect the vineyards of the farmers of Contrada Catavatta, bordering the winery's vineyards, from the risk of abandonment. The grapes, sourced from small local farmers, grow on volcanic soils composed of lapilli, ash and clay, in a continental climate that alternates between harsh winters and cool, breezy summers. The rows are managed using organic methods, with minimal intervention and manual harvesting. Verha Rosso stands out for its bright ruby colour and aromas of fresh fruit and roasted coffee; on the palate, it is balanced, fresh and mineral, with a fine and persistent tannic texture. Verha Rosato has a bright pink colour and aromas of red berries; it is fresh, agile and mineral, with light tannins and a lively finish. Verha Bianco, straw yellow in colour, has aromas of tropical fruit, aromatic herbs and sage; on the palate, it is fresh and mineral, medium-bodied and satisfying on the finish. Three everyday wines, fresh and pleasant, that tell a story of solidarity, tradition and love for the land.

"Verha" Bianco Elena Fucci
Elena Fucci's Verha white wine is the result of a 2022 project that combines respect for tradition with the desire to innovate and support the local community. This wine is not only an authentic expression of the terroir that characterises the village of Barile, but also a concrete response to the risk of abandonment of the area's vineyards.
In fact, the grapes used for Verha come from small farmers in Contrada Catavatta, adjacent to the vineyards of the title. Before the pandemic, these grapes were bought by private individuals from the Campania region for artisanal production. With the arrival of Covid, however, this trade came to a halt, leaving the farmers without a market outlet. In order to prevent the vineyards from being abandoned, Elena Fucci decided to take over these precious grapes and launch a new line of everyday wines, fresh and pleasant, but always linked to the territory of the Vulture.
The wine is made from local indigenous grape varieties and the vineyards benefit not only from the volcanic soil, composed of lapilli, ash and clay, but also from the continental climate, with cold winters and cool, breezy summers, which allows the grapes to ripen perfectly. The vines are cultivated with the utmost respect for nature, using organic methods and state-of-the-art weather stations to minimise intervention. The strictly manual harvest takes place in mid-September, ensuring a careful selection of the best grapes.
In the cellar, the grapes are destemmed before being cryomacerated in steel tanks for about 6 hours. The grapes are then gently pressed to extract the must, which ferments with selected yeasts in temperature-controlled steel tanks. As Verha bianco is a vintage wine, it rests in steel tanks at low temperature for one month before being filtered and bottled. The Verha bianco presents itself with a pleasant yellow colour in the glass, the nose is fresh and aromatic, with hints of tropical and white-fleshed fruits, combined with notes of Mediterranean herbs such as sage. On the palate we find the prevailing freshness, with mineral puffs, a medium bodied wine and a satisfying finish. A versatile wine, perfect for everyday drinking. With the Verha line, Elena Fucci has created a wine that not only expresses the best of the terroir, but also tells a story of solidarity, tradition and love for the land.

In the cellar, the grapes are destemmed before fermentation with selected yeasts and maceration with almost whole grapes in steel tanks for about 12 days. The wine matures for 6 months in stainless steel tanks, followed by another 6 months in the bottle.
Verha Rosso has a brilliant ruby red colour in the glass, the nose is dominated by aromas of fresh fruit, combined with subtle hints of roasted coffee. The palate is balanced, easy to drink, fresh and mineral, with a fine and persistent tannic texture. A versatile wine, perfect for everyday drinking. With the Verha line, Elena Fucci has created a wine that not only expresses the best of the terroir, but also tells a story of solidarity, tradition and love for the land.
