The Elena Fucci winery was officially born with the 2000 harvest, a project that developed in parallel with the young Elena's university studies in viticulture and oenology. With a clear and determined vision, a courageous choice was made right from the start: to concentrate all energies on a single label, the famous ‘Titolo’. Conceived as a wine of the highest level, capable of competing with the great international crus, Titolo became the emblem of Aglianico del Vulture, a grape variety that finds a unique expression in this volcanic land. The objective was ambitious: to tell, through a single wine, the extraordinary nature of the land and the depth of a bond handed down through generations.
The winery's vineyards, located in Contrada Solagna del Titolo at the foot of Mount Vulture, were purchased in the 1960s by Elena's grandfather, Generoso Fucci. For decades, he and his great-grandfather tended these vineyards with dedication, limiting themselves to selling the grapes or producing wine for family use. When the idea of selling the six hectares came up, the fate of the vineyards seemed sealed. However, the family decided to preserve this heritage, launching a project that today has brought the Fucci name and Titolo to represent an excellence recognised throughout the world.
Every stage of production, from the meticulous care in the vineyard to the vinification in the cellar, follows the principles of respect for nature and enhancement of the territory. The vines, many of which are over 70 years old, are treated with traditional and sustainable techniques: no chemicals are used and even the bindings are made from dried broom. In the cellar, the grapes, harvested by hand, are vinified using an approach that preserves the purity and uniqueness of the fruit, without altering its original characteristics.
The result is a wine of great elegance and personality, which best represents the unique terroir of Vulture. Elena's philosophy has been described as "modern but not modernist": a perfect balance between tradition and innovation that has enabled Titolo to win prestigious international awards. More than any award, however, the real achievement of the Elena Fucci winery is to have turned a small family business into a symbol of Basilicata, capable of telling the world about the beauty and richness of this volcanic land.
