Description
The 'Sapori del borgo' three-bottle case from the Podere Orto winery contains three wines from the vineyards in the village of Trevinano, in northern Lazio, between Tuscany and Umbria.
Moscato is a dry white wine made from grapes of the same variety, with a lively character and surprising sapidity. The nose opens with citrus scents and delicate floral notes, while the palate reveals a light but persistent structure with a long, mineral finish. A tasty, balanced and versatile wine, perfect for spicy dishes or fresh cheeses.
Amai, a bright and lively rosé, is a tribute to his daughter Maia. A blend of native white and red grapes, mainly Procanico and Sangiovese, it is grown on soils rich in skeleton, clay and sand. It has aromas of small red fruits, violets and roses, with a fresh and persistent palate that invites you to take another sip.
Rosso, a blend of Grechetto Rosso, Sangiovese and Ciliegiolo, represents the soul of the territory. Fresh, juicy and fragrant, it offers notes of cherry and blueberry with iron nuances. On the palate it is agile but structured, with soft tannins and a pleasant drinkability.

"Moscato" Podere Orto
Podere Orto's Moscato white wine is made from the grapes of the same name to produce a dry, unpretentious, tasty white wine with a lively palate and surprising flavours. Moscato is a very old aromatic grape variety that is widespread throughout Italy and is one of the most widely cultivated; there is hardly an Italian winery that does not have a few rows of Moscato on its land!
Not to be outdone, Giuliano and Simona chose the genetic material of a vineyard in a nearby locality, at least 50 years old, for the mass selection of their vines, convinced that this was the only way to interact and not alter a still pure ecosystem where human presence and activity are still minimal.
This is the philosophy behind their biodynamic and organic production, with minimal intervention in the cellar and in the vineyard, which is rich in clay and sand, but also in stones, known agronomically as the skeleton. The altitude, between 570 and 620 metres above sea level, and the temperate, hilly climate ensure excellent acidity and freshness if harvested at the right time.
Harvesting, which is always done by hand, takes place in the first week of September and the must, obtained after direct pressing of the grapes to avoid removing the stems and crushing, is fermented in steel tanks. The wine matures for 12 months in steel vats, followed by the same period in the bottle.
In the glass, the white Moscato has a deep straw-yellow colour, a character far from the classic sweet image of the vine. On the nose, intense citrus aromas mingle with delicate floral notes, enriched by a light spicy nuance. On the palate, the wine is completely dry, with a light but persistent structure and a lively flavour reminiscent of certain white wines from northern Europe. It finishes long and clean, with a pleasant mineral accent.
This white is ideal with spicy fusion dishes, crispy tempura and fresh or blue cheeses, demonstrating exceptional adaptability to innovative preparations.

"Amai" Podere Orto
Podere Orto's Rosato 'Amai' is a special tribute to Giuliano and Simona's daughter Maia, whose name is reflected in the anagram 'Amai'. This rosé is a blend of white and red grapes, all native to the area, the majority of which is Procanico, with the remainder being Sangiovese.
The vineyards are located in the municipality of Trevinano, in Alto Lazio, a strip of land on the border between Tuscany and Umbria, surrounded by woods, springs, streams, flora and fauna, rich in biodiversity. We are located in hilly areas, on sedimentary soils rich in skeleton, clay and sand. The exposure of the vines varies between north and west for the white varieties and west for the red varieties, guaranteeing an optimal balance between freshness and ripeness. The strictly manual harvest takes place around the first week of October.
The vinification process reflects the variety of grapes used. The red grapes are partially destemmed and the must ferments spontaneously in small vats, with daily manual punching down, while the white varieties are pressed directly, without crushing or destemming, and fermented in steel tanks. After the malolactic fermentation, which is usually completed in the spring after the harvest, when the temperature returns to a level favourable to the action of the lactic bacteria, the different batches are blended. The wine matures for 12 months, partly in fibreglass tanks and partly in steel vats, before being bottled for a further 12 months.
In the glass, Amai has a bright and lively rosé colour. The nose opens with intense aromas of small red berries, accompanied by elegant floral notes of violets and roses, reminiscent of the freshness of white grapes. On the palate, it is lively, fruity and lightly structured, with a lingering finish that invites you to take another sip.
Perfect as an aperitif, served chilled, it goes well with lightly prepared dishes, finger food or light appetisers.

"Rosso" Podere Orto
The ‘Rosso’ red wine from the Podere Orto winery is a blend label, of grapes that represent the soul of the production area, Grechetto Rosso, Sangiovese and Ciliegiolo. It is a fresh and dynamic red wine, whose characteristics are accentuated by the altitude and the tingly temperature range of the area, typical of mountain wines, surprising for its fullness and juiciness, with a nose rich in red berry fruit aromas.
Podere Orto is the lifestyle choice of Giuliano and Simona. In addition to the winery and vineyards, they also run a Bed & Breakfast, welcoming guests to this unspoilt corner of central Italy. In fact, thanks to its particular geographical position and the fact that much of the land surrounding the village is under environmental protection, Trevinano has remained virtually untouched to this day.
The red grapes, cultivated partly with the "alberello palificato" method, benefit from a soil rich in skeleton and clay, with a percentage of sand, which guarantees good drainage.
Harvested by hand in the second week of October, the grapes are carefully processed, partially destemmed and fermented in small 10 hectolitre vats, with daily manual punching down. After fermentation, the wine matures for 24 months in fibreglass vats and completes its ageing with 12 months in the bottle.
In the glass, the Rosso has a transparent ruby red colour, typical of Sangiovese grown at high altitudes. The nose is delicate and elegant, with notes of blueberries and cherries, accompanied by fascinating iron nuances that enhance its terroir character. On the palate, it is juicy and fragrant, with an agile but well-structured mouth, supported by a lively freshness and soft tannins that make it extremely pleasant to drink.
A versatile wine, the Rosso is the ideal companion for meat dishes such as roasts and stews, and its combination of acidity and structure makes it the perfect accompaniment for mature cheeses.
