Description
The 'Varietali Monferrato' three-bottle case from the Alemat winery contains three expressions of the territory: Emilio, Augusta and Brunaldo, wines that tell the story of a family's passion for working the land with respect and dedication.
The Piemonte Grignolino DOC 'Emilio' is produced from 100% Grignolino grapes, a historic Monferrato variety that was already appreciated at the court of the Savoy in the 1500s. With a light, brilliant ruby red colour, it offers hints of small red fruits and delicate spices, with light, velvety tannins. Ideal with cold cuts, appetisers and traditional Piedmontese dishes.
Barbera Superiore d'Asti "Augusta" is made from grapes grown on the hills of Penango. An authentic and convivial wine, it stands out for its fruity and balsamic soul. In the glass, it is an intense ruby red, with notes of black cherry, cherry and vanilla, a full and enveloping taste, with a long spicy finish.
The selection is completed by Monferrato DOC 'Brunaldo', made from 100% Croatina grapes. An elegant, full-bodied wine with aromas of ripe red fruit, spices and hints of vanilla. On the palate it is full and smooth, with a long finish and pleasant sapidity. Three wines that express the heart and strength of Monferrato.

Grignolino "Emilio" Alemat
Description
Piemonte Grignolino DOC 'Emilio' is produced exclusively from grapes of the native Grignolino variety by the Alemat winery. Its name comes from the word "grignòle", which is used in the dialect of the area to refer to the grape seeds that are abundant in the berries of this variety. Grignolino is a red wine with a not insignificant history, already in the 1500s it was particularly appreciated at the court of the Savoy, who considered it the wine of great occasions. "Emilio" is a wine that caresses the nose with notes of spices and sweet red fruits, decisive and juicy, with light tannins typical of Grignolino and ideal for approaching the more austere flavours of other Piedmontese red wines made from Nebbiolo grapes. The land on which the Grignolino vines grow is situated at about 250 metres above sea level, on a single hill in the municipality of Penango, with clay and limestone soils and a southern exposure that provides optimal conditions for sunshine and ripening. Savio and his family cultivate their grapes with meticulous respect for nature and the environment, limiting mechanical intervention in the field and preferring manual work wherever possible. Harvesting is one of the activities that is carried out without the aid of mechanisation; the selection of the best bunches during these operations is very important and guarantees a prerogative to obtain a quality must and a regular fermentation. "Emilio" ferments in steel vats at a controlled temperature of 24°C with maceration on the skins for a few days. The wine is then kept in steel vats, always at a controlled temperature, to promote malolactic fermentation. The wine matures in steel for about 5-6 months, followed by a further period of one month in the bottle. The colour of this Grignolino is clear and bright ruby red. On the nose, it offers initial notes of chives, followed by spices such as black pepper, in harmony with notes of small red fruits, which evolve in the glass into softer and broader aromas, with hints of sweeter fruits. On the palate, it is enveloping and intense, with velvety tannins and a good length in the mouth. Ideal with cured meats and traditional Piedmontese hors d'oeuvres, first courses such as agnolotti del plin and white meats, Emilio is also excellent as an aperitif or with fish dishes.Read More

Barbera "Augusta" Alemat
Description
"Augusta" is a Barbera Superiore d'Asti wine produced by the Alemat winery exclusively from Barbera grapes grown on a hill in the municipality of Penango, in the heart of Monferrato, a historical and geographical area of Piedmont. Augusta' is an authentic, sociable and satisfying Barbera, with a fruity yet balsamic soul, a balanced and intense palate and a long finish. Alemat is a young family business, run by Savio with the help of his sons Alessandro and Matteo, whose work begins in the vineyard, where the quality of the wine is born. At about 300 metres above sea level, the Barbera vines are on the highest part of the hill, facing south. The soil is very thin and poor in nutrients, with varying proportions of limestone and clay. Harvesting is done strictly by hand in the first ten days of October, with careful selection of the grapes, only those that are perfectly ripe are selected. In some years, this is achieved by green harvesting, a selection of the unripe grapes carried out in August to balance the productive load of the vines, favouring the perfect ripening of the remaining grapes. The must ferments in steel vats at a controlled temperature of 28-30°C for 12-15 days in contact with the skins. Malolactic fermentation then takes place at a controlled temperature of 20°C before the wine is transferred to large oak barrels for a minimum of 18 months, followed by a further 4-6 months in the bottle. "In the glass, "Augusta" has an intense ruby red colour with violet reflections; the bouquet opens with notes of red fruits, sour cherries and ripe cherries, enriched with violet nuances and officinal herbs, and closes with a light note of vanilla due to the ageing in wood. In the mouth it is full, enveloping and intense, with a long persistence and an important and dense texture. The aftertaste offers pleasant sensations of ripe fruit with a slightly spicy finish. Augusta is the ideal companion for fine cuisine, grilled meats, roasts, game and mature cheeses, offering a rich and satisfying gastronomic experience.Read More

Croatina "Brunaldo" Alemat
Description
The Monferrato DOC red wine "Brunaldo" is produced by the Alemat winery with pure Croatina grapes, a variety that has been widespread in northern Italy since the Middle Ages and is still used today to make wine either on its own or in blends with other grape varieties. Alemat is a small family-run winery, founded just a few years ago, in 2012, from Savio's passion for wine, together with his wife and their two sons, a serious, no-frills business, winemakers by choice, for the simple reason that they have no winemaking background. Brunaldo' is a red wine for medium ageing, an elegant and full-bodied version of the Croatina grape, with complex, smooth and enveloping aromas of fruit and spices. The vineyards from which this label comes are located in the municipality of Penango in Monferrato, in a hilly area at about 250 metres above sea level, cool and ventilated, with an eastern exposure, characterised by reddish soils, very poor in organic substances and minerals. The Brunaldo grapes are harvested by hand around mid-October, with careful selection of the bunches. The Croatina vine is very productive and it is often necessary to do a green harvest in August, removing some bunches in order to obtain a uniform sugar level and perfect ripening of the fruit remaining on the vine. After destemming and crushing, fermentation takes place in steel vats at a controlled temperature of 28°C, with the must remaining in contact with the skins for 8-10 days. At the end of alcoholic fermentation, malolactic fermentation is promoted by controlling the temperature to 20°C. The wine remains in wood for about 18 months, then it is bottled and aged in glass for another 4-6 months. "Brunaldo has an intense ruby red colour with violet reflections. Its bouquet is rich and complex, spicy at first, then evolving into softer, enveloping notes of red fruits such as plums and ripe cherries, enriched by a hint of vanilla in the finish. On the palate, the taste is full and of great intensity, with a dense yet soft and round texture to the touch, and finishes with a long persistence and sapidity, enhanced by a pleasant aftertaste that brings back the spicy and sweet scent of ripe fruit. Brunaldo is the ideal companion for hors d'oeuvres, cured meats, highly structured first courses, meats and cheeses that are not too mature.Read More
