Description
The three-bottle case 'I rossi di Alemat' from the Alemat winery tells the story of Piedmont's Monferrato region through three labels: Barbacrò, Augusta and Brunaldo.
Barbacrò is an easy-drinking, very intriguing red with succulent notes of red fruit. It is made from a blend of native Piedmontese grapes, mainly Barbera with Croatina to complete the work. Aged in stainless steel for eight months, it captivates with aromas of plum and cherry and a juicy, enveloping taste, perfect for any meal.
Next is Augusta, a Barbera Superiore d'Asti made exclusively from Barbera grapes from Penango. An authentic, convivial and satisfying wine, with an intense ruby red colour and aromas of black cherry, cherry and violet, with a broad, persistent palate and an important texture. Ideal for structured dishes and mature cheeses.
The selection concludes with Brunaldo, a Monferrato DOC made from 100% Croatina grapes. Elegant and full-bodied, it has complex aromas of ripe fruit, spices and hints of vanilla. The palate is full and smooth, with a long finish and savoury notes.

“Barbacrò” Alemat
Description
The 'Barbacrò' wine from the Alemat winery is an easy-drinking, very intriguing red wine with juicy notes of red fruits. It is made from a blend of indigenous grapes from the Piedmont region, Barbera for the most part and Croatina to complete the work. Even the name of the wine comes from the union of the two grape varieties, 'Barba' meaning Barbera and 'Cro' meaning Croatina. Furthermore, 'Barbacrò' in Norman dialect means 'handlebar moustache', a detail that inspired the personalised label that accompanies it represented by a cheerful character with a moustache, cheeks, eyes, mouth, shirt and butterflies that change from time to time. Each label of 'Barbacrò' is unique, and is an invitation to discover and savour different bottles by collecting different labels, in the hope of finding two identical examples. The grapes come from south-facing vineyards, warm and well kissed by the sun, but with good ventilation, located in hilly terrain, on very thin soil, composed mainly of limestone and clay, at an altitude of 300 metres above sea level. Harvesting is done manually, and during fermentation the must macerates on its skins in steel vats for about 6 days at a controlled temperature of 28°C. Once the liquid is separated from the skins and the fermentation process is complete, the temperature is raised to 20°C, allowing the lactic bacteria to start malolactic fermentation. "Barbacrò" matures in stainless steel for about 8 months, before spending a further 2 months in the bottle. Intense ruby red in colour at the glass, the nose releases inviting aromas of ripe red fruit, such as plums and cherries. In the mouth, the incoming red fruit aroma continues, enveloping the palate. This juicy red has an intriguing and versatile character, suitable for multiple pairings, it is perfect to accompany the whole meal, but recommended with cured meats, first courses and white meats.Read More

Barbera "Augusta" Alemat
Description
"Augusta" is a Barbera Superiore d'Asti wine produced by the Alemat winery exclusively from Barbera grapes grown on a hill in the municipality of Penango, in the heart of Monferrato, a historical and geographical area of Piedmont. Augusta' is an authentic, sociable and satisfying Barbera, with a fruity yet balsamic soul, a balanced and intense palate and a long finish. Alemat is a young family business, run by Savio with the help of his sons Alessandro and Matteo, whose work begins in the vineyard, where the quality of the wine is born. At about 300 metres above sea level, the Barbera vines are on the highest part of the hill, facing south. The soil is very thin and poor in nutrients, with varying proportions of limestone and clay. Harvesting is done strictly by hand in the first ten days of October, with careful selection of the grapes, only those that are perfectly ripe are selected. In some years, this is achieved by green harvesting, a selection of the unripe grapes carried out in August to balance the productive load of the vines, favouring the perfect ripening of the remaining grapes. The must ferments in steel vats at a controlled temperature of 28-30°C for 12-15 days in contact with the skins. Malolactic fermentation then takes place at a controlled temperature of 20°C before the wine is transferred to large oak barrels for a minimum of 18 months, followed by a further 4-6 months in the bottle. "In the glass, "Augusta" has an intense ruby red colour with violet reflections; the bouquet opens with notes of red fruits, sour cherries and ripe cherries, enriched with violet nuances and officinal herbs, and closes with a light note of vanilla due to the ageing in wood. In the mouth it is full, enveloping and intense, with a long persistence and an important and dense texture. The aftertaste offers pleasant sensations of ripe fruit with a slightly spicy finish. Augusta is the ideal companion for fine cuisine, grilled meats, roasts, game and mature cheeses, offering a rich and satisfying gastronomic experience.Read More

Croatina "Brunaldo" Alemat
Description
The Monferrato DOC red wine "Brunaldo" is produced by the Alemat winery with pure Croatina grapes, a variety that has been widespread in northern Italy since the Middle Ages and is still used today to make wine either on its own or in blends with other grape varieties. Alemat is a small family-run winery, founded just a few years ago, in 2012, from Savio's passion for wine, together with his wife and their two sons, a serious, no-frills business, winemakers by choice, for the simple reason that they have no winemaking background. Brunaldo' is a red wine for medium ageing, an elegant and full-bodied version of the Croatina grape, with complex, smooth and enveloping aromas of fruit and spices. The vineyards from which this label comes are located in the municipality of Penango in Monferrato, in a hilly area at about 250 metres above sea level, cool and ventilated, with an eastern exposure, characterised by reddish soils, very poor in organic substances and minerals. The Brunaldo grapes are harvested by hand around mid-October, with careful selection of the bunches. The Croatina vine is very productive and it is often necessary to do a green harvest in August, removing some bunches in order to obtain a uniform sugar level and perfect ripening of the fruit remaining on the vine. After destemming and crushing, fermentation takes place in steel vats at a controlled temperature of 28°C, with the must remaining in contact with the skins for 8-10 days. At the end of alcoholic fermentation, malolactic fermentation is promoted by controlling the temperature to 20°C. The wine remains in wood for about 18 months, then it is bottled and aged in glass for another 4-6 months. "Brunaldo has an intense ruby red colour with violet reflections. Its bouquet is rich and complex, spicy at first, then evolving into softer, enveloping notes of red fruits such as plums and ripe cherries, enriched by a hint of vanilla in the finish. On the palate, the taste is full and of great intensity, with a dense yet soft and round texture to the touch, and finishes with a long persistence and sapidity, enhanced by a pleasant aftertaste that brings back the spicy and sweet scent of ripe fruit. Brunaldo is the ideal companion for hors d'oeuvres, cured meats, highly structured first courses, meats and cheeses that are not too mature.Read More
