Description
The "Fontefico" three-bottle case combines three wines of strength and identity: "Portarispetto", "La Foia" and "Titinge", three different labels but united by precision and respect for nature.
'Portarispetto' is a Trebbiano d'Abruzzo Superiore that reveals the true essence of the native grape variety. It comes from the Vigna Bianca vineyard, on the Punta Penna promontory, exposed to sea breezes. Fresh, savoury and mineral, it has herbaceous and green pepper notes on the nose, while on the palate it opens with white fruit and an elegant salty hint.
'La Foia' is a Pecorino Superiore DOC, a bold interpretation of Abruzzo's most famous grape variety. Made from 100% Pecorino grapes from the Vigna Bianca vineyard, it ferments with indigenous yeasts and ages in stainless steel and cement. Golden in colour, it offers aromas of chestnut honey, chamomile and white pepper. On the palate it is full and creamy, with notes of vanilla and dried apricots.
'Titinge' is the Montepulciano d'Abruzzo Riserva, a symbol of elegance and power. From the Vigna Pàstino vineyard, it rests for six years in stainless steel, wood and bottles. Intense ruby red in colour, it releases aromas of ripe red fruits, chocolate and spices, with soft and balanced tannins.

Trebbiano d'Abruzzo Superiore “Portarispetto” Fontefico
Description
Fontefico's Trebbiano d'Abruzzo Superiore 'Portarispetto' is a version of Trebbiano that is not often drunk, and is the true expression of this indigenous Abruzzo vine. It is a fresh, full-bodied white wine with a green nose and notes of aromatic herbs. It has been present in Abruzzo since 1500, but it was probably already cultivated in Roman times. In modern times, it has often been and still is cultivated only to produce large quantities of grapes, whereas if treated with love and respect, and with lower yields, it can produce complex and long-lasting wines capable of surprising those who taste them. This Trebbiano tells the story of the land from which it comes, revealing in the glass all its potential, the history and beauty of the region, with a particular charm. The vines are planted in the Vigna Bianca, on the promontory of Punta Penna, in the municipality of Vasto, where the rows of Trebbiano d'Abruzzo are joined by those of Pecorino, which are in the majority. The eastern exposure of the vineyard allows the vines to take full advantage of the cool, salty breezes from the nearby Adriatic Sea, which reduce the hot summer temperatures and humidity, keeping the vines dry and healthy. A microclimate suitable for organic farming allows the number of phytosanitary treatments to be limited. Harvesting by hand allows a more precise selection of the grapes, while the use of crates or small carts allows the grapes to arrive intact at the winery. After destemming, crushing and soft pressing, the must is spontaneously fermented in temperature-controlled steel vats. The Portarispetto matures for 10 months in steel tanks before being bottled and left to rest in glass for at least 3 months. This Trebbiano d'Abruzzo Superiore has a straw-yellow colour and opens with suggestive herbaceous notes, reminiscent of green pepper, leading to a complex aromatic bouquet. On the palate, a fresh explosion of white fruits, accompanied by a distinctive minerality reminiscent of the salty sea. Its salty character is expressed with elegance, leaving a long, balanced finish that invites you to savour each sip with care and pleasure. With 'Portarispetto', Trebbiano d'Abruzzo reveals all its authenticity and nobility, proving that it is much more than just a grape variety.Read More

Pecorino Superiore "La Foia" Fontefico
Description
Foia' is a Pecorino Superiore DOC wine, a bold and unprejudiced interpretation of the most famous Abruzzo variety, vinified by the Fontefico winery. A label that is not afraid to surprise and fascinate both the palate and the mind, with creamy, full-bodied flavours and a surprising freshness that one does not expect. The nose is complex, with sweet sensations intertwined with spices, with aromas of dried fruit on the side. La Foia' is a special edition of Pecorino, a name that symbolises the desire for new sensations, the irresistible urge that captures the senses and does not let go until the thirst is quenched. This wine is made with 100% Pecorino grapes from the Vigna Bianca estate, which is situated on a promontory at 120 metres above sea level and faces east, towards the Adriatic Sea, a factor that greatly influences the cultivation of the land. The sea breezes and the grass between the rows keep the vines cool and well ventilated, especially in summer. Cultivation is purely organic, the philosophy being to respect nature as much as possible, avoiding the use of chemical or synthetic products and, where possible, the use of machinery. At harvest time, the grapes are picked by hand and placed in boxes or in small carts pulled by tractors, trying to avoid breaking the berries by crushing them. After destemming and crushing, the must obtained is macerated with the skins for the first 5 days of alcoholic fermentation, a process that is brought to life by indigenous yeasts in temperature-controlled steel vats. Pecorino Superiore 'La Foia' matures for the first 5 months after the end of fermentation in steel vats and then rests for 12 months in cement vats. With a deep golden colour, also due to the short maceration period, it promises an important tasting experience. On the nose, the notes of chestnut honey and sweet camomile flowers are immediately recognisable, giving way to stronger notes of white pepper and dried flowers. On the palate, La Foia reveals a full and complex body on entry, then envelops the palate with creamy flavours of vanilla and sweet dried apricots. It is a wine that defies convention, inviting you to be carried away by the boldness and intensity of its sensations, all the way through to a satisfying finish.Read More

Montepulciano d’Abruzzo Riserva "Titinge" Fontefico
Description
Montepulciano d'Abruzzo Riserva 'Titinge' is the top of the Fontefico's range of Montepulciano wines, aged for at least 6 years before release. A red wine of substance and intensity, it manages to combine elegance and structure, the taste is powerful and authentic. A mixture of well blended aromas, including ripe red fruits and spices, delights the nose, to be drunk on important occasions, accompanied by roasted or grilled meats. The name 'Titinge' comes from its taste, but above all from its colour, which is so rich and intense that it colours the heart. This Riserva is the precious fruit of the oldest vineyard in the Fontefico estate, planted in 1970. It is called Vigna Pàstino and is situated at 115 metres above sea level. The vines are rooted in a soil that is mainly silt, but also contains clay and iron, and is exposed to the north-west, making it very cool, with fewer hours of sunshine per day, and exposed to the mistral winds from the Adriatic Sea. When the harvest comes, the grapes are hand-picked into crates and processed quickly, as the cellar is very close to the vineyards. These two factors limit grape breakage and strong oxidation, favouring the quality and health of the wine, even with less sulphur dioxide input. After destemming and crushing, the must ferments spontaneously in temperature-controlled steel vats in contact with the skins for about 25 days until the liquid separates from the skins. Ageing is a long process, with the wine resting in steel vats for a good two years, followed by another two years in wood. After 48 months, the wine is ready to be bottled, but not to be marketed, in fact it remains in the bottle for another 24 months! The Montepulciano d'Abruzzo Riserva 'Titinge' has an intense ruby red colour, on the palate it is soft and elegant to the touch, the tannins are balanced, caressing the palate and providing comfort, in harmony with enveloping and refined nuances of chocolate and spices. On the nose, delicate balsamic notes and aromas of red berries and cherries emerge.Read More
