The Terrae Laboriae project was founded by Antonio Sauchella, sommelier and traveller, and Angelo Iannotti, a winegrower from a family of winegrowers and also a sommelier. After an experience in Asia and an encounter with the ancient philosophy of amphora wine, Antonio and Angelo decided to bring these unconventional methods home. Their goal is to create wines that are art, poetry and history, the authentic expression of a unique and timeless heritage.
In the vineyards, every process follows the rhythms of nature: no chemicals, no mechanisation. Only the best grapes are hand-picked in September, gently crushed and left to ferment spontaneously with naturally occurring yeasts directly in qvevri, Georgian terracotta amphorae. The result? Wines without chemicals or corrective additives, with low sulphite levels, neither fined nor filtered.
Qvevri ensure natural micro-oxygenation of the wine during maturation, much like French barrels, but without the oak tannins.
Terrae Laboriae labels are authentic, made from local grapes grown with sustainable farming. Limited, artisanal production of the highest quality.
