Description
Barbera d'Alba 'Rocca delle Marasche', produced by Deltetto, is a red wine made exclusively from Barbera grapes. Barbera d'Alba is a wine that was once considered 'rustic', but thanks to careful vinification and refined ageing in wood, it has undergone a significant transformation over time and is now a red wine of relevance, capable of being compared with the most sublime expressions of Piedmontese oenology. Its name, Rocca delle Marasche, comes from Marasca, a type of cherry typical of the Roero area, and underlines the origin and specificity of this extraordinary red wine, juicy and enveloping, characterised by a considerable complexity due to its long ageing in barriques, which captures the nose with its fascinating notes of ripe red fruits and a spicy background.
The Barbera grapes are left to over-ripen on the vine for about 8 days before being manually selected and harvested from a vineyard in a privileged position in the municipality of Castellinaldo, just a few minutes from the winery.
The grapes are then destemmed, crushed and left to ferment for about 10 days at a controlled temperature of about 28°C. Rocca delle Marasche is then aged in oak barrels for about 18 months and then in the bottle until it is released.
The intense red colour with violet reflections announces a wealth of aromas, with notes of sour cherry jam and cherries intertwined with vanilla aromas that enrich the enveloping bouquet. The mouth is characterised by great warmth on entry, an imposing structure and an elegance that lingers in the mouth.
This Barbera d'Alba is an excellent accompaniment to meat-based first courses, offering a perfect harmony of flavours. At the same time, it can be enjoyed on its own as a meditation wine, allowing you to immerse yourself in the complex nuances of this extraordinary cru.
