Friuli Venezia Giulia

Located in the north-eastern corner of Italy, Friuli Venezia Giulia is a prestigious wine-producing region, renowned for the quality of its wines, especially its white wines. The region's main wine producing areas include Collio, Colli Orientali del Friuli, Grave del Friuli and Isonzo. Collio, on the border with Slovenia, is famous for its complex and mineral white wines made from varieties such as Friulano, Ribolla Gialla and Sauvignon Blanc. These wines are appreciated for their freshness and ability to age.

The Colli Orientali del Friuli, which stretch along the hills of the region, offer a wide range of white and red wines. Among the whites, Friulano and Pinot Grigio are particularly famous, while among the reds, Refosco dal Peduncolo Rosso and Schioppettino stand out for their spicy notes and good structure.

The Grave del Friuli area, which is flatter and characterised by gravelly soils, is known for producing fresh, light white wines such as Pinot Grigio and Chardonnay, as well as elegant reds such as Merlot. With a climate influenced by the Alps and the Adriatic Sea, Friuli Venezia Giulia offers a unique terroir that contributes to the diversity and quality of its wines.
