Description

Mesum is a wine with an enveloping and ancient flavour, inspired by a 14th century fresco on the walls of the Torre dell'Aquila in the majestic Buonconsiglio Castle in Trento, painted by the talented master Wenceslas as part of the 'Cycle of the Months'. This wine is a passionate tribute to the centuries-old tradition of this land and its hardworking peasants, who are deeply rooted in local history. The vineyard that gives life to Mesum is a faithful embodiment of the fresco: each plant is combined with Trentino chestnut poles and natural materials, in accordance with an organic and biodynamic philosophy. In the vineyard, the Piwi vine, a variety resistant to fungal diseases and phylloxera, was planted in the ground, free standing, without the use of a rootstock. It is grown without the use of phytosanitary treatments. The entire process, from hand picking to foot pressing, is carried out using traditional methods, without the use of motorised machinery. Respecting its history and its unique terroir, the Mesum is fermented and matured in an earthenware amphora, with prolonged contact with the skins for 6 months. The result is a wine with a golden colour, enriched with aromas of yellow flowers, camomile and acacia honey. Mesum's pleasant sweetness, smoothness and fullness make it ideal with fruit desserts, but also with spicy dishes with strong sweet and sour contrasts of oriental cuisine. This wine is a fusion of history and innovation that delights the senses and honours the traditions rooted in the land of Trentino.
