Description

As with the Murva Bianco, the red Murva Pinot Noir vinified by Renata and Alberto represents a conscious departure from the company's usual practice of naming the cru on the label. This red wine does not represent a single vineyard, but rather the harmonious combination of three Pinot Noir plots that interact with each other, and this is a deliberate choice, not an oversight.
Since 2009, the Murva project has been guided by a clear vision: to produce wines of the highest quality, carefully crafted in response to grape variety and climate variables. From the outset, this vision has informed the selection of cultivars to be planted in each vineyard — a considered choice reflecting the extensive technical knowledge gained through thirty years of experience.
In this context, the roots of Austro-Hungarian, French and Friulian traditions have been skilfully integrated, finding fertile ground in the Isonzo area. This blend of influences has helped shape distinctive wines with character that express the full potential of each variety grown on their sites.
The grapes grown in the three plots are vinified individually in the cellar through fermentation maceration for about two weeks, during which time the must remains in contact with the skins. During this process, the “cap” is manually punched down to keep it wet. The 'sur lies' ageing lasts around 12 months, followed by at least another year of rest in the bottle.
In the glass, it displays the typical ruby red appearance of Pinot Noir, but with unexpected depth; it is never thin or flat. The aromatic expression varies with the vintage, offering nuances ranging from ripe strawberry to fully ripe wild berries, with a well-defined sweetness of fruit. On the palate, it is delicate and soft with a pleasant sensation of fullness and harmony, and no tannic harshness.
