Description
Planties Rosé is a St. Quirinus label wine, again made from the fungus-resistant Piwi grape, but from red varieties, vinified in rosé.
A fresh and refined rosé wine, an expression of sustainable viticulture that respects nature. In fact, these varieties allow those who grow them to use fewer, if any, phytosanitary chemicals to keep the plants healthy, making it easier to follow the dictates of organic farming.
It can be considered a rosé that comes from the Alps, as evidenced by the vertical imprint that can be seen throughout the St. Quirinus line. There is also no lack of inviting and persuasive fruity aromas, which are always appreciated in a rosé.
The Pianizza di Sopra estate produces many of Michael Sinn's wines. We are located above the town of Caldaro, 450 metres above sea level, on moraine soils with limestone and gravel, rich in porphyry. The influence of the "Ice Holes" biotype provides fresh air even in summer, a natural phenomenon that helps the plants and is exclusive to certain mountain areas.
All the grapes are harvested by hand, after which they are carefully destemmed and crushed before the must is fermented in steel tanks at a controlled temperature of 18°C. Prior to ageing in steel tanks, the wine is left on the fine lees for a period of time and stirred periodically with batons.
In the glass, the 'Planties Rosé' presents itself with an elegant light cherry pink colour. The nose is dominated by delicate notes of strawberry, raspberry and fresh berries. On the palate, the body is light but well defined, with a good, invigorating acidity that adds liveliness to the sip and pleasantly prolongs the persistence.
Very drinkable, this rosé is perfect with savoury starters, fish or vegetable dishes and is also excellent as an aperitif.
