Description

The Rosso di Montalcino produced by Terre Nere, a precious ambassador of the fascinating lands of Montalcino, Tuscany, enchants with its vibrant colour, an intense ruby red. The Rosso di Montalcino, made exclusively from Sangiovese Grosso grapes, is a younger and fresher version, ready to drink, compared to the more noble Brunello. With aromas of marasca cherries, violets and blackcurrants that blend harmoniously, and tannins that are still young but of excellent quality, it shows an extraordinary ductility in table pairings. The Terre Nere winery pays great attention to the promotion of biodiversity through the use of beneficial insects, fertilisation with manure and the use of natural products. This constant commitment is also reflected in the organic certification obtained for both the vineyard and the cellar. The harvest is always done by hand, each bunch of grapes is selected according to its degree of ripeness, which sometimes requires several passes through the vineyard during the harvest in order to obtain perfect ripeness and quality of the grapes. In the cellar, work is carried out in an artisanal way, using indigenous yeasts, and the must undergoes a long maceration on the skins at a controlled temperature of 28-30°C in steel vats during fermentation. It is a process that aims to extract the best from the grapes and to interpret the authenticity of Sangiovese Grosso. Maturation, an integral part of the ageing process, takes place in steel vats for 6 months after the end of fermentation, after which the wine is transferred to large 50 hl and 30 hl Slavonian oak barrels, where it rests for about 8 months. Bottle ageing lasts at least 4 months before release. An inviting ruby red colour with garnet highlights, the nose opens with elegant notes of crisp red fruits and flint, a seductive invitation to savour. On the palate, the young but soft tannins combine with a pleasant freshness to create liveliness and good persistence in the finish.
