Description
The ‘Rosso’ red wine from the Podere Orto winery is a blend label, of grapes that represent the soul of the production area, Grechetto Rosso, Sangiovese and Ciliegiolo. It is a fresh and dynamic red wine, whose characteristics are accentuated by the altitude and the tingly temperature range of the area, typical of mountain wines, surprising for its fullness and juiciness, with a nose rich in red berry fruit aromas.
Podere Orto is the lifestyle choice of Giuliano and Simona. In addition to the winery and vineyards, they also run a Bed & Breakfast, welcoming guests to this unspoilt corner of central Italy. In fact, thanks to its particular geographical position and the fact that much of the land surrounding the village is under environmental protection, Trevinano has remained virtually untouched to this day.
The red grapes, cultivated partly with the "alberello palificato" method, benefit from a soil rich in skeleton and clay, with a percentage of sand, which guarantees good drainage.
Harvested by hand in the second week of October, the grapes are carefully processed, partially destemmed and fermented in small 10 hectolitre vats, with daily manual punching down. After fermentation, the wine matures for 24 months in fibreglass vats and completes its ageing with 12 months in the bottle.
In the glass, the Rosso has a transparent ruby red colour, typical of Sangiovese grown at high altitudes. The nose is delicate and elegant, with notes of blueberries and cherries, accompanied by fascinating iron nuances that enhance its terroir character. On the palate, it is juicy and fragrant, with an agile but well-structured mouth, supported by a lively freshness and soft tannins that make it extremely pleasant to drink.
A versatile wine, the Rosso is the ideal companion for meat dishes such as roasts and stews, and its combination of acidity and structure makes it the perfect accompaniment for mature cheeses.
