Aglianico Rosato "Ephyra" 2022 Rossella Cicalese

Description

Ephýra is a wine that draws on the history and allure of the ancient land of Ebhura, renamed by the Greeks as Ephýra katà Kampánian. According to Virgil, when the Greeks found similarities between Ebhura and many Greek places, they called it Ephýra, the ancient toponym of Corinth. The name of this wine is a link to ancient Greece. The grapes are grown in the Eboli area on medium clayey soils that give the wine an excellent structure. To obtain this rosé, the Aglianico grapes are soft pressed, as if they were white grapes. The must is subjected to a light cold static decantation to eliminate substances that could give off unpleasant odours and flavours. Fermentation takes place in steel vats at 18 degrees with indigenous yeasts. After fermentation, the wine matures on its own lees in steel tanks. The lees are stirred weekly using the batonnage technique, a widely used technique that enhances the full-bodied sensation of the wine. Ephýra presents itself with a slightly accentuated but bright and brilliant coppery colour. To the nose, it offers a compelling bouquet of red fruits, with notes of juicy cherry, fresh citrus, white plum and the sweet scent of apple. It is the ideal companion for those approaching the world of wine for the first time, light and refined.
