Description

Azienda Agraria Semonte's Metodo Classico 'Battista' is the result of a careful selection of Chardonnay grapes blended with Pinot Noir, giving it body, complexity and remarkable longevity. This sparkling wine, dedicated to Battista, the beloved wife of Federico da Montefeltro, a great figure of the Renaissance, is characterised by rigorous vinification protocols and a long stay on the lees, giving it a character suitable for all occasions. The vineyards are cultivated using the Guyot training system, with a planting density of 6,300 vines per hectare. Situated between 650 and 800 metres above sea level and exposed to the south and west, the vines benefit from a medium-textured calcareous soil, rich in skeleton, and large temperature variations between day and night, which give the wine excellent acidity. The yield is between 50 and 60 quintals per hectare. The harvest takes place in the first ten days of August for the Chardonnay and in the last ten days for the Pinot Noir, which ripens later. Vinification begins with soft pressing of the grapes, followed by decantation into cement or stainless steel tanks. After 24 hours of clarification by decanting, the must is inoculated with selected yeasts in wood or cement vats. Maturation takes place on the fine lees for 6 months, after which the wine is drawn off into stainless steel tanks. The wine remains in the bottle with its own yeasts for at least 20 months. The 'Battista' embodies the elegance and refinement of the Renaissance. It has a bright straw-yellow colour and a fine, persistent perlage. To the nose, it offers a fresh bouquet with fruity notes of apple, accompanied by aromas of white flowers and a hint of yeast. The palate is fresh, harmonious and balanced. Thanks to its versatility, this sparkling wine is perfect for any occasion.
