Description

Podere Santa Lucia's IGT white wine Incrocio Bruni 54 is a journey into the winemaking antiquity of Senigallia, a coastal town in the Marche region, a fascinating rediscovery of a Marche grape variety that is no longer available. It was created in 1936 by Prof. Bruni, the internationally renowned Marche ampelographer, by crossing Sauvignon blanc and Verdicchio, the most widely grown grape in the region, with the aim of combining the finesse and fruity, floral aromas of Sauvignon with the acidity and structure of Verdicchio. Incrocio Bruni 54 was gradually replaced in times of economic difficulty due to its low productivity. Over the years, this replacement led to the almost total disappearance of the variety. Thanks to careful research and breeding, it is now possible to taste this bottle of 100% Incrocio Bruni with pride. The grapes come from the municipality of Monte San Vito and are grown organically using the Guyot method on clayey-sandy soils. Vinification takes place with soft pressing of the grapes in the absence of oxygen, followed by clarification of the must by cold decantation and spontaneous fermentation with indigenous yeasts at a controlled temperature of 16-18°C, all in steel tanks. Maturation takes place in steel barrels for 10 months, in contact with the indigenous yeasts, followed by 2 months in bottle. Brilliant golden yellow in colour, the nose is intense and complex, with notes of grapefruit blossom and boxwood on a Mediterranean background of sage and rosemary. On the palate, it is fresh and structured, with an acid shoulder that provides balance and a medium-long finish. It is the ideal accompaniment for starters and first courses with a sweet or slightly spicy character, as well as main courses with white meat.
