Description

The Giasira red wine from the Giasira winery is a harmonious blend obtained from a skilful combination of an international grape variety and an indigenous Sicilian one, Merlot and Nero d'Avola, which give the wine an extraordinary harmony and pleasantness. A wine that is not too demanding, suitable for informal occasions or to accompany everyday meals. The name of the estate comes from the Arabic word Gisira or Gesira, which means 'island'. This name reflects the location of the estate, isolated by the deep erosion furrows of the quarries that cut through the Hyblean plateau. We are located in the province of Syracuse, in the territory of the municipality of Rosolini, where the vines grow on the calcareous soils that characterise the area, trained in the espalier system with spurred cordon pruning. The vineyards are cultivated according to the principles of sustainable agriculture and respect for the environment, which are the basis of the company's philosophy and the leitmotif of the entire production of Giasira organic wines. The grapes are harvested by hand in the second half of September and are carefully selected to ensure maximum quality. The vinification process includes the destemming of the grapes, followed by fermentation in steel tanks with a long maceration on the skins at a controlled temperature. Almost all the wine is then aged in steel tanks for 9 months, with a small proportion in barriques. Finally, it completes its refinement in the bottle for at least 3 months before release. In the glass, the intense ruby red colour is immediately striking, while the nose is fresh and elegant, with a rich bouquet of red fruits and subtle vegetal notes. On the palate, it is full-bodied and savoury, and its delicate polyphenolic structure, smoothness and persistence make it extremely pleasant to drink. This red wine is perfect with vegetable timbales, pizza, semi-mature cheeses and simple main courses.
