Description

The rosé wine produced by Giasira is a pure expression of 100% Nerello Mascalese from the south-east of Sicily, vinified in white. A label that exudes vitality and freshness, with aromas of small red fruits, currants and raspberries, accompanied by hints of iodine and sea breeze, with subtle spicy nuances. The dynamic palate is imbued with a pleasant savouriness and energy. The vines are cultivated on calcareous soils and benefit from the Mediterranean climate, with often windy days and considerable temperature variations between day and night. Like the Grillo variety, the Nerello Mescalese is espaliered with Guyot pruning and produces low yields, around 60 quintals of grapes per hectare. After hand harvesting in the second half of September, the grapes are destemmed and the must is left to macerate on the skins for a short time to extract the colour and obtain the vivid colour that characterises this rosé and its distinctive aromas. The skins are separated from the liquid by static decantation and the must obtained is fermented in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature of around 18°C. The wine matures on its fine lees in steel for 6 months, followed by 3 months in bottle. To the eye, the Giasira Rosé has a striking rose petal colour, enriched with coppery reflections. The bouquet is complex and enveloping, ranging from floral notes of rose to fruity notes of wild strawberry and blackcurrant, with delicate spicy notes of white pepper. On the palate, the wine is fresh on entry and pleasantly savoury, with good length and a velvety finish. This is a versatile wine that can be enjoyed as an aperitif, with raw seafood or shellfish, or with pizza.
