Description

Montepulciano d'Abruzzo is produced exclusively with grapes of the same variety from the Bossanova estate. This version of Montepulciano promotes freshness, it is vinified with a short maceration, which rewards the smoothness, softness and delicate aromas of red fruits, combined with the more lively aromas of spices, while maintaining the strength and serenity of the variety. The sip is full-bodied and well-balanced, with a long and precious finish. Bossanova is located in the north of Abruzzo, in the hills of Controguerra. This young winery, run by Nat and Andrea, now has 9 hectares of vineyards, cultivated using biodynamic methods, with total respect for the ecosystem and biodiversity, the culture and traditions of the place. The Montepulciano grapes come from vineyards that are about 40 years old, located on a single plot of land and cultivated with spurred cordon pruning at about 250 metres above sea level. The grapes are harvested manually in boxes and once in the cellar, 20% of the grapes are crushed by foot, as in the past, and the must obtained is added to the remaining 80% of the mass obtained by mechanical crushing and destemming. The must and marc macerate together during fermentation for about 10 days, with daily bombardment. The wine matures in cement tanks for about 20 months. After bottling, the wine remains in the bottle for 6 months before being released. This Montepulciano d'Abruzzo has an intense ruby red colour. On the nose it is rich in aromas of black cherry, red plum and eucalyptus, enriched with sparkling notes of black pepper and balsamic aromas. The palate is impeccable, with a full-bodied entry, an enveloping softness and an important, perfectly balanced tannic imprint. The finish is long and persistent. Excellent with savoury starters, meat and cheese dishes.
