Description

The Bolgheri Rosso DOC wine 'Agapanto' from Podere Conca is a poetic tribute to the South African flower Agapanthus, whose name comes from the Greek words 'agape' (love) and 'anthos' (flower). A label that, like its floral inspiration, expresses liveliness through its colour and elegance through its terroir, which is recounted and exalted in the tasting, a fresh and refined interpretation, despite its young age, deliberately desired by the producers (it is released the year after the year of production), highlighting the fragrance and elegance of the grapes from which it is made, an experience that conquers from the first sip.
The protagonists of this wine are Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Ciliegiolo, a blend of international and local grapes from the Le Ferruggini vineyard, a parcel of land not far from the winery. The area is characterised by sandy soils, the result of ancient lake and sea sediments, which favour drainage and give the wines an unmistakable fine, composite character. After the harvest and careful manual selection of the grapes, vinification follows an artisanal process that favours quality and respect for the raw material. The grapes are destemmed and crushed before fermentation with maceration on the skins in cement tanks for at least 20 days.
The wine is aged for about 12 months, partly in barriques and partly in second and third passage tonneaux, with the aim of achieving softness and balance, without masking the liveliness and varietal character of the wood.
In the glass, Agapanto presents itself with an intense and brilliant colour. The aromatic bouquet is dominated by fresh scents of red fruits. On the palate, it is a harmonious wine, with a fresh, exuberant entrance, but at the same time polite, with a pleasant persistence that invites you to take another sip.
This young red is perfect with cured meats, cheeses and red meats that are not too spicy, but its smoothness and versatility also make it an ideal choice for a complete meal.
