Chardonnay 2020 Murva
Description
The white 'Monuments' from the Murva winery is a clear expression of pure Italian Chardonnay, combining technical rigour and emotional depth. Alberto and Renata do not leave anything to chance: for them, craftsmanship is not synonymous with imperfection, but rather an opportunity to pay careful attention to every detail, enabling them to express the identity of the place with precision. Monuments is broad and refined, with a pronounced verticality on the palate — a trait much appreciated in wines from this region — and it fully expresses the fruity character of this renowned international grape variety.
The vineyards are tended in the municipality of Moraro, in the heart of Friuli Venezia Giulia. This area is characterised by iron-rich soils with a classic red colour, composed of clays derived from dolomitic decalcification. This warm, well-aerated soil anticipates the spring awakening of the vine and promotes complete ripening, producing concentrated, expressive grapes. Work in the vineyard is meticulous, low-intervention and entirely manual, including harvesting. In the cellar, the grapes undergo cold skin extraction before fermentation, which takes place slowly at around 15°C. The wine then rests on its lees for 11 months, followed by a further year of ageing in the bottle.
This Chardonnay is a deep straw yellow in colour, with a bouquet that opens up to reveal ripe yellow fruits and tropical accents intertwined with contrasting notes of citrus zest, acacia honey, resin, melted butter and white chocolate. On the palate, it has an elegant and taut entry, with vibrant acidity accompanying a dynamic and persistent flavour. This is a white wine with backbone, designed not to impress immediately, but to reveal its depth and surprising finesse with every sip. ‘Monuments’ is the product of a clear and consistent vision: an authentic Italian Chardonnay that truly reflects its origins and the concept behind its creation.

Chardonnay and Danish Drinking Culture
Denmark is known for its sophisticated approach to food and drink, and wine plays an increasingly important role in everyday life. According to market research, white wine is among the most popular wine types among Danes—and often the natural choice is Chardonnay white wine. Danish wine consumption is characterized by a growing appreciation for quality, craftsmanship, and sustainability, making organic Chardonnay wines from small producers particularly attractive.

The classic Danish cuisine—often featuring fish, seafood, and canapés—pairs perfectly with a crisp and mineral Chardonnay. Imagine a light and refreshing Chardonnay white wine enjoyed with rye bread, smoked salmon, and dill cream: a classic Danish flavor combination. For heartier dishes, such as fried plaice with parsley sauce, an oaked Chardonnay with notes of butter and vanilla is ideal.
What Makes Chardonnay Special?
The Chardonnay grape originates from Burgundy, France, but is now cultivated all over the world—from California to Australia to Italy. Grapes are known to be influenced by climate and the winemaker’s techniques.
Flavor profile: Depending on how it’s made, Chardonnay white wine can have notes ranging from citrus and apple to butter, vanilla, and smoky undertones.
Oak vs. steel: An oak-aged Chardonnay is a "bread and butter" style wine with rich, creamy notes, while a steel-aged Chardonnay (like a Chablis) is fresher, more mineral, and marked by refined citrus flavors.

Chardonnay "Suasì" 2022 Deltetto
DescriptionThe Suasì white wine produced by the Deltetto winery is a young and attractive version of the international Chardonnay grape. Its name, "Suasì", comes from the Piedmontese dialect and means "chosen".
It is made from a small quantity of pure white Chardonnay grapes, carefully selected and harvested every year just before full ripeness, to produce a fresh, easy-drinking wine with a pleasant fruitiness, suitable for aperitifs and everyday meals.
The Chardonnay is cultivated in the heart of the Langhe, on the family's land, characterised by the marl and clay soils typical of the area, and a climate with temperature variations between day and night, which favours the full expression of the vine. Care for sustainability and attention to organic farming are the cornerstones of Deltetto's work in the vineyard and cellar, in order to obtain healthy grapes without the use of synthetic chemical products. Harvesting is done entirely by hand and vinification begins after the grapes have been gently pressed. Fermentation takes place at a controlled temperature of 16°C in steel vats, the perfect combination to maintain a greater expression of the varietal aromas. Maturation also takes place in steel tanks, followed by bottle ageing before release.
Suasì has a straw-yellow colour, inviting aromas of ripe exotic fruit, and a great freshness in the mouth. It is ideal as an aperitif or with fish and shellfish starters, creating a gastronomic experience that celebrates the lightness and elegance of this wine.
