Located in central Italy along the Adriatic coast, Marche is an emerging wine-producing region renowned for the diversity of its wines, thanks to a unique mix of terroirs and microclimates. The region is mainly known for its white wines, among which Verdicchio, produced in the appellations Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi and Verdicchio di Matelica, stands out. Characterised by freshness, minerality and notes of bitter almonds, this wine is appreciated for its ability to age and to accompany fish dishes.
Another important wine-producing area in the Marche is the Conero, near Monte Conero, which produces Rosso Conero and Conero Riserva, robust red wines based on Montepulciano. Piceno, in the southern part of the region, is also famous for Rosso Piceno, a blend of Montepulciano and Sangiovese, renowned for its smoothness and structure.
The region also produces quality sparkling wines, often made using the classic method, and sweet wines such as Vernaccia di Serrapetrona. Combining tradition and innovation, the Marche region continues to grow in reputation, offering a wide range of wines that reflect the richness of its terroir.
