Description

The winery has deep roots in the history of the area. Documents attesting to the production of wine date back to the 19th century, when Ottavio De Vigili bottled wine for the Austro-Hungarian Empire. With the outbreak of the two world wars, wine production came to an abrupt halt and in 1939 a large part of the estate was sold. In the years that followed, the vineyards of the Rotalian area experienced a dizzying economic growth, exceeding the very high values of one million per hectare. Thanks to the tenacity of first Ottavio and then Aldo, the company was able to rebuild itself on its two and a half hectares of land. In this socio-economic context, it is not easy to achieve large areas under vine, but the essential aspect is not the size of the company, but the absolute search for quality and precision. It is from this philosophy that Azienda Agricola De Vigili - as we know it today - was reborn in 2015, thanks to Francesco De Vigili, who acquired an additional two hectares of vineyards and began making wine from his own grapes. It all started in a small warehouse and then expanded to a more suitable structure. Today, the new 1400 square metre cellar is being planned, completely underground, in order to reduce the impact on the environment as much as possible, especially given the scarcity of land due to the conformation of the terrain, embedded in the slopes of the Dolomites.
