Roero “Curs” 2019 Bordone Giuseppe

Description

"Roero 'Curs' from the Giuseppe Bordone winery is a wine that takes its name from the evocative Roero region, an area of great vine-growing potential on the left bank of the Tanaro river. The 'Curs' is one of the winery's flagship labels, a territorial expression of the Nebbiolo variety, with eloquent aromas of sweet spices in perfect harmony with the more inviting aromas of red fruit jam. The name 'Nebbiolo' is said to derive from 'nebbia', because of the abundant flowering of the grapes, while others believe that it derives from the fact that it is a grape harvested at the end of October, when the vineyards are shrouded in the morning mist. The name 'Curs' is given to the vineyard adjacent to the winery, on the hill called 'Corso', where the grapes are grown on calcareous clay soils with abundant sand veins rich in mineral salts. When the grapes reach the right degree of ripeness, they are harvested by hand, selected one by one, placed in boxes and taken to the cellar where they are destemmed and transferred to steel tanks for fermentation at a controlled temperature of 26°C. After fermentation, the wine is aged in Slavonian oak barrels for a good 3 years before being bottled. Ruby red in colour with orange reflections due to the long ageing process, the Roero "Curs" offers a complete and perfectly harmonious taste, with delicate tannins, full of warm and enveloping notes, with a persistent finish that recalls wood and spices. Spices are also protagonists on the nose, in perfect combination with notes of undergrowth and sweet jam to complete the sensory experience. This wine is ideal with pork-based main courses and for relaxing moments after dinner. "
