Description

"Barbera d'Alba 'Sarnia' from the Giuseppe Bordone winery is an excellent expression of vineyard wine, fully expressing the varietal character of the grape from which it is made. The Sarnia wine is made from pure Barbera grapes, with a vinous and fruity character and a harmonious and dynamic profile. Barbera is a less ancient vine than other Piedmontese vines such as Moscati, Grignolino and Nebbiolo; the first written records date back to the end of the 18th century. For four generations, the Bordone estate has been working its vineyards with the utmost care and respect for the vine and the land, in the knowledge that care in the vineyard allows the production of quality grapes that can be transformed into great wines. The plot from which the grapes for "Sarnia" are harvested is located on a hill called Piloni, 2 km from the winery. After destemming and fermentation with the skins at a controlled temperature of 26°C in steel tanks, the wine is aged for about 12 months in French oak barrels. The Barbera d'Alba 'Sarnia' has an intense ruby red colour with lively spicy notes, enriched by aromas of plum, blackberry and black cherry jam. On the palate, these aromas merge with an acidity that gives freshness to the entry, full and harmonious on the palate, with fine, dry tannins. This wine is a perfect accompaniment to main courses with fatty meats and mature cheeses, and an ideal companion for a relaxing after-dinner drink.
