Campania, washed by the waters of the Tyrrhenian Sea in central southern Italy, is a wine-producing region rich in history and tradition, renowned for producing high-quality wines that reflect the distinctive character of its volcanic terrain. The region is famous for a variety of indigenous grape varieties, many of which have ancient origins. Among the white wines, the most famous is undoubtedly the Greco di Tufo, produced in the area of the same name. This wine is characterised by good acidity, minerality and notes of exotic fruits and white flowers.
Another important white wine is the Fiano di Avellino, renowned for its aromatic complexity and ageing potential, with hints of hazelnut, honey and citrus fruits. Falanghina, cultivated mainly in the Campi Flegrei and Sannio areas, produces fresh and fruity wines, ideal with traditional Campanian fish dishes.
Among the red wines, Aglianico del Taburno and Taurasi are the most appreciated. Taurasi, in particular, is known as the "Barolo of the South" for its powerful structure, strong tannins and great longevity.
