Description

"Giuseppe Bordone's Barbera d'Alba is an excellent interpretation of the Barbera grape, a fresh and rich wine with fragrant and persuasive aromas. This label is a perfect example of the winery's approach to maximising the potential of local grapes, combining tradition and innovation to produce high quality wines. Barbera, the most widespread grape variety in Piedmont, known for its rough, stubborn, strong, obstinate and silent character, is the grape that best reflects the spirit of the Piedmontese. For the production of this wine, grapes are used from vineyards located in several municipalities in the province of Cuneo and near the winery: Montà, Canale and Santo Stefano Roero. After the harvest, which is always done by hand, the grapes from the different hills are gathered in the cellar, crushed, destemmed and fermented in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature of around 26°C. The must is pumped over the lees three times a day to release the aromatic substances contained in the marc. At the end of fermentation, the wine is aged in steel tanks at a controlled temperature of 13°C for about 6 months before bottling. In the glass, Barbera d'Alba has an intense ruby red colour with violet reflections. To the nose, it has a fruity profile that recalls notes of black cherry, enriched by sweet notes of ripe red fruits. On the palate, it is full and enveloping, with a good structure and an acidity that stands out on the palate, giving freshness and making it suitable for modern drinking. This Barbera d'Alba is an excellent accompaniment to red meats and cheeses. "
