Located in northern Italy, Lombardy is a wine region of great diversity and tradition. With landscapes ranging from the Alps to gentle hillsides, Lombardy offers a wide range of distinctive wines. One of the most famous areas is Franciacorta, famous for its classic method sparkling wines, often compared to French Champagne. Made mainly from Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Blanc grapes, these wines are renowned for their finesse and complexity.
Valtellina, one of Italy's few mountainous wine-growing regions, is famous for its robust red wines, particularly those made from Nebbiolo grapes, known locally as Chiavennasca.
