"Porta del Vento is located in Camporeale, in the province of Palermo, in a beautiful valley at about 600 metres above sea level, in the area of Alcamo and Monreale. Founded in 2005 by Marco Sferlazzo, the winery cultivates about fifteen hectares of Catarratto and Perricone vines, planted over thirty years ago.
Porta del Vento's philosophy is based on organic and biodynamic methods. No synthetic products are used in the vineyards, but biodiversity is enhanced by the use of wild herbs and treatments using only sulphur, copper and natural preparations. In the cellar, the approach is equally artisanal, without invasive and artificial intervention, allowing the wine to fully express the terroir and the season.
The cool and aerated microclimate, together with the sandy, well-drained soils, favour a slow ripening of the grapes, which develop intense and complex aromas. Fermentation takes place spontaneously with indigenous yeasts in cement, terracotta or large oak barrels, preserving the authenticity of the wine.
Porta del Vento produces fresh, elegant wines with great personality, respecting sustainable, artisanal agriculture. Among the labels to discover are Catarratto, Nero d'Avola, Rosso 'Maquè', Rosato, Perricone 'Saharay', 'Mira', 'Voria', 'Trebbi' and 'Ishac', which tell the true essence of Sicilian wine.
