Description
The three-bottle case 'Bianchi dell'isola' from the Baglio Diar winery contains Selene, Fantasia and Dida, three labels from the Wine Art line, a project that combines literature and Sicilian viticulture, inspired by the novels of Pirandello and Verga. Each wine represents a story of light, land and culture, signed by Baglio Diar.
Selene, made from 100% Grillo grapes, takes its name from the protagonist of Giovanni Verga's novel Eros. Born in the vineyards of Mazara del Vallo, kissed by the sun and sea breeze, it is a bright straw yellow wine with aromas of tropical fruit, dill and rosemary. The palate is fresh, mineral and harmonious, with notes of apricot and orange peel.
Fantasia, vinified from Zibibbo grapes, is an aromatic white wine with Mediterranean charm. The nose releases notes of orange blossom, grapefruit and eucalyptus, while the palate is agile, medium-bodied, with aromas of lychee, banana and hints of aromatic herbs. Fresh and versatile, it surprises with its length and liveliness.
Dida, made from 100% Catarratto grapes, reflects the Sicilian winemaking tradition. Golden yellow and intense, it smells of dried figs, aniseed and vanilla, with a structured, balanced and mineral palate. The finish, persistent and enveloping, recalls toasted hazelnuts and ripe apricot.

The white wine “Selene” is one of the Wine Art labels that Baglio Diar dedicates to Italian literature; it is named after the heroine of Giovanni Verga’s novel “Eros”, a captivating ballerina at La Scala. This white wine is made from 100% Grillo, a native semi-aromatic variety, and comes from the vineyards of Mazara del Vallo, in an area kissed by the sun and by the sea breeze, which gives it a lively salinity, pleasantly enriched by the sweet notes of ripe fruit typical of the grape, making Selene a true speciality of the winery.
The vines grow on very free-draining sandy soils, in a dry climate with often little rain, mild winters and very hot summers. Night harvesting in early August preserves the freshness of the grapes, which are then gently pressed in the winery. The must ferments in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature of 13°C for about two weeks. The wine is aged in stainless steel tanks for 3 months, followed by a further month in bottle.
The result is a bright straw-yellow wine that releases elegant notes of tropical fruit on the nose, such as yellow melon, ripe pineapple and apricot, balancing herbaceous aromas of dill and rosemary. On the palate, Selene stands out for its linear, vertical character, with a lightly structured body and a pleasantly mineral finish softened by hints of apricot and orange peel.
Ideal with baked fish, stuffed squid or seafood pasta sauces, it also pairs perfectly with rich meats and medium-aged sheep’s milk cheeses, enhancing Mediterranean flavours with its fresh, aromatic profile.

Baglio Diar makes the white “Fantasia” from Zibibbo, the king of southern European grapes, a very ancient variety spread across the Mediterranean basin as far back as Roman times. Its name comes from the Arabic word Zabīb, meaning “raisin”, widely used in the Arab world and a clear reference to its natural sweetness.
Fantasia is a wine that is easy to fall in love with if you like aromatic wines: a label with plenty of personality and lively acidity, with citrus touches and hints of aromatic herbs. The plot, with medium-textured soils, lies between Marsala and Salemi, in the inland south-west of Sicily, at an altitude of 300 m above sea level; the Baglio Diar team has tended the vines according to the principles of organic viticulture for 20 years now, using only copper and sulphur and no herbicides.
The harvest takes place at night between the third and fourth week of August, when temperatures are cooler. In the winery the grapes undergo cryo-maceration, with the temperature lowered to 4°C for 10-12 hours, before being gently pressed. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature of around 15°C. The wine then ages for 3 months, again in stainless steel tanks, completing its maturation with at least one month in bottle.
A bright, pale straw yellow, Fantasia has an intense, refined nose with prominent citrus notes such as orange blossom and grapefruit, accompanied by delicate hints of eucalyptus. On the palate it is nimble, with lively acidity and medium body, and a range of flavours recalling lychee, banana and hints of aromatic herbs such as oregano and sage; the finish is surprisingly long and fresh.
Perfect with spiced white meats, shellfish soups or flavourful legume dishes, it also proves an excellent match for mildly spicy dishes or blue cheeses, thanks to its aromatic profile and elegant versatility.

The still white “Dida” is also part of Baglio Diar’s prestige line, called Wine Art, whose bottle names and labels are inspired by the novels of Pirandello and Verga, symbolising the union between literature and the island’s native viticulture. Dida is made from 100% Catarratto, one of the oldest grape varieties in Italy and considered the most widely planted native variety in Sicily.
This dynamic, fully organic winery was born from the vision of the De Girolamo family, who have been involved in winemaking for generations, and is committed to practices that respect the environment and health.
The Catarratto grapes are grown in the vineyards of Salemi, at 350 m above sea level, where they benefit from marked day-night temperature swings and medium-textured soils, ensuring greater acidity, freshness and structure in the glass.
The harvest is carried out with care during the nights of the third and fourth week of September. Once in the winery, the grapes are gently pressed before alcoholic fermentation in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature of 15°C for about 15 days. The wine then ages for 4 months in barriques and a further 3 months in stainless steel tanks, completing its ageing with at least one month in bottle.
It shows an intense straw yellow with golden highlights. The nose is an irresistible invitation, with notes of dried figs, anise and a delicate hint of vanilla. On the palate, Dida wins you over with its structured, balanced body, excellent length on the finish with hints of toasted hazelnuts, and lively minerality. Flavours of preserved lemon and ripe apricot also emerge.
