Description

Fontefico's 'Febbre d'A.' rosé is a wine that defies convention and goes its own way, inspired by the winemaking tradition of Abruzzo. It is a label that rebels against the official specifications of the DOC Cerasuolo d'Abruzzo. Made from pure Montepulciano grapes, it stands out for its authenticity, simple and complex at the same time, characterised by a dynamic, sometimes almost brackish sip with fine and complex aromas.
The Montepulciano grapes are selected from the Vigna del Pozzo vineyard, which is 120 metres above sea level and faces east, towards the sea. The vines grow on a soil rich in skeleton, combined with iron and clay, characteristics that are reflected in the organoleptic profile of 'Febbre d'A'. The grapes are harvested by hand and vinified in white, with fermentation in stainless steel vats without the skins, which is typical of the production of rosé wines. Refinement lasts about 10 months, also in steel, and ends in the bottle, at least 3 months before release. Like its white counterpart, it is not filtered.
In the glass, the colour is a bright ruby red for a rosé, which immediately catches the eye. On the nose, the Febbre d'A. offers a refined, clean and complex range of aromas, such as red berry fruits on the one hand, and earthy notes on the other, with more pepper and Mediterranean herbs mixing with iodine and balsamic notes, revealing new nuances each time and inviting you to discover something new each time.
On the palate, the wine is lively and pleasant, with a soft entry, good acidity and a savouriness that lingers on the finish.
