The Nepos Villae winery was born in 2017 thanks to the shared passion of its founders, Gianfranco Gilberto and Chiara Ruffo, whose vision is to create wines of the highest quality that truly reflect the authenticity of the territory and its ancient winemaking traditions.
Their unwavering commitment to producing wines that interpret oenological excellence and their love for the winemaking tradition of classic Valpolicella are what set them apart. A distinctive element of their philosophy is the choice to present only wines from past vintages, rather than recent ones, demonstrating their respect for optimal ageing and refinement.
The company is a true family business, with the patriarch, Gianfranco, and his children, Lucia, Anna and Francesco, each making their own unique and passionate contribution to the production of quality wines. The vineyards, which cover an area of 3 hectares, are strategically placed to make the most of the unique characteristics of the soil, guaranteeing high quality grapes and excellent production. They enjoy exceptional exposure to the sun, ensuring uniform ripening of the grapes. Situated at an altitude of 260 metres above sea level, the ideal climatic conditions contribute to the creation of distinctive, high quality wines.
The soil, characterised by a marly base with the presence of fossiliferous clays and a component of soapstone with an important skeleton, gives our wines a unique and distinctive profile, reflecting the richness of our terroir.
Only traditional varieties are cultivated, such as Corvina, Gentile Corvinone, Rondinella and Molinara, carefully selected to express the authentic character of the terroir. Production is artisanal, with a focus on sustainability and respect for the environment. Modern techniques are combined with centuries-old winemaking traditions to produce wines of high quality and authenticity.
We pride ourselves on using only large Slavonian oak barrels, which contribute to the distinctive organoleptic profile of our wines.
Among our flagship wines are Valpolicella Classico Superiore DOC, Valpolicella Classico Superiore Ripasso DOC, Amarone Classico della Valpolicella DOCG and Recioto Classico della Valpolicella DOCG, authentic expressions of oenological excellence and the identity of our vineyard.
